EDIT: Sorry, misread the post. I don't think it will make much difference either way, your CPU will work perfectly well in any socket 1155 board.

No there actually is a reason for ivy and sand bridge cpus ,because only on z mobos you can modify the turbo frequency. So he will be able to overclock the cpu up to 4Ghz/4Ghz/4Ghz/4Ghz from 3.2ghz base and 3.6/3.5/3.4/3.4 Ghz turbo.

Yes I know. I happen to be running a 3350p/z77 board myself but I got the board for $60 so it was cheaper than any other board.
