What's Better, 780 ti or 970?

I've been trying to look around and find an answer to this, but it's all been kind of confusing to me. Let's start off with, price is not a factor in this. I want to know, simply, which graphics card is better. At this point, they're both under $500, and that's good enough for me. I also plan on doing two-way SLI, and so I was wondering if both cards are capable of running dual 144hz 1440p monitors in a 2-way SLI setup.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just download something like MSI Afterburner (my personal recommendation), and look up what other people have theirs clocked to. The interface is all slider driven, so you slide settings up and down and the program does the rest. The changes you make aren't large enough to seriously damage the card, so the worst you can get is an unstable OC that crashes or throttles heavily.

Go with gtx 970. You will benefit from 4gb vram of 970 rather than 3gb of gtx 780 ti.g

Alright, thanks for your answers guys! It's hard to pick a solution since so many of you suggested the 970, and all with valid and different reasoning >.< So I guess I'm going for the 970, so thank you for your help! Now I just have to learn a lot more about OC'ing...
