whats better for gaming

Whats better, i already have a alienware 15 with a gtx 965 and 8gb with i5, im looking at the touch lenovo y700 bestbuy has with a gtx 960, ddr4 8gb and a skylake i7. I plan to upgrade to 16gb and nadd a ssd, which would be better for majority of the new games and some early access?

The systems are likely to be pretty even, depending on if the game wants a good CPU or a good Video Card. It's like asking if 10 lbs of cake and 8 lb of cookies is better than 8 lbs of cake and 10 lb of cookies. It depends on the situation.

Pretty sure your current laptop would be better for gaming. The lenovo has a stronger CPU, but GPU will be the most important factor in gaming performance, and the GTX 965M is a decent amount stronger than the 960M.

Oh okay, so since i already have the alienware should i upgrade, or get a new one, the i7 and lenovo aspect attracted me, have 2 alienwares 1 gas failed, so recommendations without too pricey would be great?

You should not need to upgrade at all, unless you want the SSD for faster loading times. 16 gig of RAM vs 8 will not make a difference in games for a while.
