i just got the evga superclocked 780 ti and im looking at upgrading my monitor from my old dell 2001 fp 1600x1200 monitors wich i run 3 but i want one single badass monitor that shows what ive been missing. would i be better to go for a 1440p or just a 1080p 144hz monitor?

the two ive been looking at are the

asus vg278he 1080p 144hz
asus pb278q 1440p 60hz

i mainly game and i play all sorts of games. but im all about the eye candy and beauty. i want to be amazed and happy

thanks for your help

will the 780 ti run the 2560x1600 res? and how much better is that vs the 1440p? and so the higher res is alot better?

2560x1600 are you mad ? Dude if you want more res then go for 2560x1440p it's much nicer.. 16:10 looks like a that olds CRT 4:3

so 1440p is the better option?

My GTX780 runs 2560 x 1600 just fine.
I happen to like the 2560 x 1600 format better, and the display is a bit larger, 30" vs 27"

The 2560 x 1600 will have about 10% more pixels, but since the size of the monitor is 10% larger, the pixel density is about the same.
