What's Better R7 260x (Crossfire) or 1x R9 290x

I have a few scenarios would really love and R9 290x just dont have the moneys atm .. so its either 2x R7 260x, R9 280x (maybe crossfire) .. or if i can stretch it an R9 290x

Thoughts guys?

Stretch less and wait for a non reference R9 290 (non X)

is there much of a difference between the r9 290 and r9 290x ?? now that ive learned they are two seperate cards 😛

The 290 (non X) has fewer stream processors, a lower clock speed and lower compute performance. Apart from that they are very similar.

It's only a little slower as it's meant to tackle the GTX 780, but for that small performance drop you pay a whopping $150 less compared to the $550 290X
