What's Difference between mSATA and SSD?

I m looking for SSD for my gaming pc. recently found out mSata in components can any one explain it?

Micro SATA. It looks like a PCI card instead of a regular Hard Drive with Cables. The memory is on the "card"/hard drive itself. It is like onboard flash hard drive.

Looks impractical to me, but I never seen it before.
