Question What's Dual-Booting With Linux Like These Days?

I thought I would never do this, but my wife just got a new laptop with Windows 10. she is agreeable to installing Linux on it, in case W-10 is too intrusive. I have dual-booted many times with Windows 7 and Linux, but I have heard that Microsoft is making that more and more difficult these days. So, does anyone have recent experience doing this? I'm going to do a system image of W-10, in case anything goes wrong.
