Hi

My system:
i7-8700k desktop
Asus Z370-A motherboard.

Objective:
I want to replace 4TB hard drives with 8 TB hard drives, (using standard conventional hard drives (7200 RPM))/

Questions:
Q1: What's faster for conventional hard drives (7200 RPM)? USB 3.1 ports or internal SATA 3?

Q2: Is installing a PCIe SATA port card a good idea for conventional hard drives (7200 RPM)?

Q3: Does using a USB 3.1 hub on the USB 3.1 port, slow down data transfer?

Q4: Does anyone know if Asus Z370-A SATA ports support 8TB hard drives?

I have 4TB hard drives installed currently.
I have all 6 SATA ports occupied. 5 hard drives, 1 Optical drive.
I have an M.2 SSD in one of NVMV m.2 ports.

Thank You

Q1: Doesn't matter, you will be limited by the max speed of the HDD which is much lower then either of those two connections.
Q2: If yo need to attach more Drives then your options are limited to : Internal/add sata card or External/ USB , Firewire, eSata, Thunderbolt, or network attached (Nas) .
Q3: all devices attached to the hub share the hubs connection back to the PC so it can if there are other devices on it active at the same time.
Q4: Yes it does

For working on drives I use one of these myself.

Other types of docks are available I just prefer the layflat. Here is the typical type...

If this will be used exclusively thru a a usb port then consider getting a drive enclosure for it. Something like this:
