So before I list anything I want everybody to know that this computer is by no means meant to impress anybody. All I really want is to run some games such as Rust at Low graphics and get playable settings. the specs are
Optiplex 760, default mobo (I dont know it off hand but can look if needed)
intel core 2 duo E8500 3.167 gHz
8 gigs of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
250 gig Harddrive
235 watt power supply

All im wondering is if it is even possible for me to play games at low settings or if i HAVE to buy a new computer...

Any thing helps, but understand I know this is a shitty compute rlol

If you don't have to "buy" it, then yes. The gt 640 is about 200%+ stronger than your current card, BUT your powersupply MAY be too weak...
Like everything.

CPU is kinda old, Ram is good quantity but slow speed, GPU is dumpster grade, HDD is probably slow, PSU is also too weak.

You need a new computer. Only about $500-550 though.

If you don't want a new computer, an Nvidia GTX 750ti is the best you can do. That'll make rust run much better.

Thanks for your input James.. I know I need a new computer but unfortunately I don't think I have the money to do such.. Would an NVIDIA GT 640 2GB DDR3 card do alright? My friend has an extra one of these and I'm wondering if it would be worth him shipping it to me??

Thanks again!

It the specifications for it recommend a 350W minimum, and it will likely use 230 watts at least, at only 235 you're WAY to close to your "max", which isn't even the normal 80% that the good PSUs guarantee they give.

You'll have to findout if you can use a regular ATX power supply, but you can pick up a 350w PSu for pretty cheap.

Alright Thanks James! Ill probably have him send the video card to me and if the power supply turns out to be too weak I will probably look for a compatible and cheap power supply somewhere!

Thanks for all your help
