What's my best bet

I'm currently looking for a decent gaming laptop, I am not willing to spend more than $2500. I know there are a lot of options, any suggestions or helpful commentary. Also, please keep in mind I would like at least a 15 in display. Thank you

When you get into laptops that expensive, you're really not gaining anything in terms of performance, plus the laptops depreciate in value extremely quickly and they won't be worth less than half of what they were when you go to sell it. I would get a $1K laptop and a $1500 desktop on that budget - you get the best of both worlds. Use the laptop for VM and you'll be able to access your desktop by remote.

Diminishing returns kick in pretty hard on gaming laptops over $1500. For instance, going from the Nvidia 870M to the 880M generally costs ~$400 for a gain of ~10-20% FPS. If you search around, you will be able to find a good gaming laptop for $1500 or less. Nvidia's 870M, 780M, and 880M and AMD's M290X/8970M are the best available laptop GPUs right now. You can search for laptops with these GPUs on sites like Newegg or Amazon, or go to custom laptop sites like ibuypower.com and xoticpc.com that will give you a little more control over what goes into your system. Keep in mind custom laptops generally take a little longer for delivery than one from, say, Newegg.
