Well, I'm planning on buying some new components soon and I don't know really what to do.
These are my two options: (I know that the Devil's canyon ain't out yet.)

1st option: i5 4690K and EVGA GTX 780 3GB SC ACX
2nd option: i7 4790K and Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC 4GB
= Both options cost the same. I could also include that I'm playing on 1920 x 1080 but I wanna max pretty much every game out atm.

I've never used AMD before that's why I'm a bit unsure what to do. I could also add that I'll probably change GPU once Maxwell hits the market. That's why I'm thinking about the 2nd option but I don't know since it's and AMD and I've always used Nvidia. (NO, I'm not an Nvidia fan I'm just a bit afraid of trying out new stuff). So what's the smartest deal in your opinion guys?

I appreciate any help you guys can provide! :)

Solution
For pure gaming the i7 will not give you any performance boost for the price increase.

If doing 3d modeling, rendering, video encoding that is a different story.

But don't you think it's more future-proof going with an i7? I mean my plan is atleast not changing CPU for 2-3 years. In those 2-3 years shouldn't game start taking use of more cores and HT?

Why not for the CPU? As I answered to boosted1g my plan is not to change CPU for 2-3 years.
