so turn on my computer today and i get a free windows 10 shroud i go windows 10 or stay with windows 7 ? will all stuff off windows 7 transfer to windows 10? i have a lot of photos on windows 7 and a ton of stuff saved on google chrome and will windows 10 play dvds?

There are not too many benefits in the end. If you have a microphone you can do voice search via Cortana, and the new Microsoft Edge browser is innovative in terms of marking up web pages to send via email.

Other than that, not much, and I am keeping Win 7 on my main desktop for now.

Supposedly it will play DVD's but have not tested that yet.

Reportedly there is a media player app from Microsoft, although I always use the VLC Media player which is a free download, and should work in Win 10 as it does in every other version of Windows.

Windows 10 to me seems to be built for 2 in 1 laptops. I am still trying to get used to it. Not much difference. I say it is a little faster. Btw, Microsoft Store or windows store is not that great.. not much developers yet, so you will not see many apps. Pandora is not even on there.. its really at the beginning stage.

my understanding, per a recent message I got from Microsoft,re. windows 10, is they will be releasing a n application soon, as an update, that will play DVD's. The Media center(where you play the DVD Movies) has been removed.

Microsoft said they would be releasing an application that will play DVD's. But if you have a program like cyberlink media suite or some other program that willplay them theyse programs should work in windows 10.

digitaldoc: thanks so much for your reply. yes, in that message I got from Microsoft, it said the media center that allows you to play movies, etc. was removed, but windows media player was kept in windows 10.

digitaldoc; Thanks for your solution to the media player. I downloaded the VLC to one of my desktops, and it works great.
