Whats the best 1150 Socket CPU?

Hi I was wondering is the i7 4790k the best cpu on the market right now for the 1150 socket or is there on that I'm missing?

Also does the 1150 socket support more then 4 core processors?

The 4790k is the fastest socket 1150 cpu currently available.

yeah thats what I thought but whens the next gen coming out or the next fastest processor?

5th gen will be broadwell, supposed to be out in a month or two and rumors are they're supposed to start with locked cores, one i5 and one i7. The k series will be out sometime later. So far ipc performance is up a little but speeds are dropped a little and so is cache so in essence it's a die shrink focusing on efficiency. The next notable performance boost will be skylake, still no release date for that yet and it will be socket 1151.

Broadwell and Skylake are a few months out. Broadwell will be socket 1150 but will only work on the z97 and h97 boards. Skylake will use socket 1151.

So the i7 4970k will be the best 1150 socket cpu for awhile then right?
