Hello! I was wondering what CPU with an AM1 socket is the best right now. From what I can see, the Athlon 5350 seems to be the best on the market, but is there any better? Thanks in advance.

Theres not a lot of them at the mo, the 5350 would be the fastest. 2 are Sempron, I would forget those

This CPU is pretty new, and there's only 3-4 to choose from at the mo. So if you want anything better, you'll have to wait for new ones to come out

I was looking at the AM1 mobos and CPU's just yesterday. May build one soon.

I built a HTPC with the sempron 3850(4 core 1.3ghz),4g ram, on a asus AM1I-A motherboard, it performs excellent for all my media up to the highest bitrate x264/Xvid/Divx encodes, using Kodi and will play most Hevc x265 encoded in low/med bitrates at 1080p res . But it does have issues with the higher bit rate x265 encodes. I overclocked it on the stock fan to 1.6GHz and it runs fine. Considering the price, think the chip retails for about $39 now, its a great value. It even manages to play some games, i play Xcom enemy unknown on it in 1080p on med detail settings. If your looking for a cheap HTPC build its a good place to start, though the newest 5350 chip is only $20-$30 more, stock speed is 2.0Ghz and i have herd it overclocks well with the stock fan too.
