[SOLVED] What's the best ethernet cable for 1GBPS?

Hello, so my internet speed is 1GBPS, but I need an ethernet cable for this and I don't know what category I need. Thinking about CAT6. Will this work perfectly? Thank you.

Minimum spec is Cat 5. Cat5e is typically what most people have for 1Gbps Ethernet. Cat 6 allows for 10Gbps at 50 meters so has higher signaling rates.

CAT 5e works perfectly.

I have used it and i can confirm it.

The only difference you'll see between 5e and 6 is the price.

Solid copper 22 to 24 gauge cat5e is all you need. Do not get flat or thin cable and do not get copper coated aluminum (CCA) cable.

Cat6 is so cheap I would just get it. Its a $3 part (newegg). (If I already had the cat 5 cable i'd use it, but I wouldn't buy a new cat 5.)

If you're buying a patch cable cat5e. if you're looking at putting wires in your walls then you might want to future proof with cat6a.

monoprice has cheap patch cables.
