Hi Techies, I'm a livid gamer from PlayStation but have been turned to Pc though jealously of my brothers PC specs lol. OK lets get this started, id basically just like to know what graphics card my system can handle, heres a few details of what im working with:
:Win 7 premium 64bit
:AMD E2-1800 processor(is this good?)
AMD radeon HD 7340 graphics(but i don't see a graphics card inside so that i don't understand)
1tb hard drive
4gb ddr3 ram/memory.
Not sure about the psu , maybe somebody could help me out but i think it may be 220w(says 220w max in tiny writing) the desktop its self is rather small , and the pcie slot is at the top of the motherboard? would this mean i would need a low profile graphics card?

Looking to play Call of duty modern ware , skyrim , battlefield 3 etc....

oh also theres room for an extra RAM slot, can i ugrade that to anther 4gb for total of 8g or will my system not allow it.

Are the AMD radeon HD 7340 intergrated somehow or shoud i be able to see it when i open my desktop? because i see no such thing as a graphics card in here at all.

And sorry does the pciE slot have a little kinda long plastic handle thing on it?

thanks to any1 how can be bothered to check out my boring list of help lol.

Cheers, Rich

The AMD E2-1800 is an APU means it has an integrated GPU in it so that's why you don't see the GPU inside your computer, to answer your question I'd say no that's not a good CPU for the games you want to play apparently it has two cores and run at a frequency of 1.7Ghz which is again not good.
Unfortunately that CPU has a BGA socket which really don't leave room for any upgrade.

The only solution is to change the motherboard too, or build a new system entirely.

This question was previously answered if you want to read other replies: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1685160/upgrade-amd-1800-apu.html

ok thanks for such a quick response of 13 mins thats great, i wait longer getting through to my bank lol. getting a new motherboard sounds expensive and sorry but what about my power supply, is that ok? cheer rich

Apparently it's a 220W with that you're very limited tow low end GPUs what's the name of your PC ? also what's your upgrade budget, might open room for suggestions ^^

The name and model is in the title ;], and probably no more then £75, but money isnt a situation as long as iv not got to spend maybe over 150, coz if i did id buy a new one

lol my bad, anyways,
Now one thing is sure if you want to upgrade the CPU you'll need to upgrade the motherboard too.
and to get a good GPU such as GTX 750 ti you'll need to upgrade the PSU too.
I'm afraid you'll have to build a new system or at least upgrade the PSU, mobo and CPU which is basically building from scratch anyway.

You might want to read this thread a guy with same PC did some pretty upgrades:

Good luck don't hesitate if you have more questions, cheers ^^

There is almost no information on your computer. A low profile card should fit however, I don't know if your machine has a pci e x16 slot. Open up the computer and see if it has a slot that looks like the one pictured. If so, a gt 730 gddr5 would pop right in. It does not require much power, so you should be fine with your 220 watt psu

Thanks for the help, Well that sounds like maybe i should just buy a new Desktop, im really nooby and all that bios talk got me scratching my head, i wouldnt know where to start lol, i also Dont have a windows disk to put a clean copy onto it.

wouldnt this play the games i wanted? or would it ge laggy and glitchey...

Thanks for the reply, so would that run the games i want, seems expensive for an older card ? Also the card info states i need a 300w psu ? and has GDDR5 RAM, not GDDR3? is this an issue for me, whats the difference ?

And yes theres not alot of info on my desktop, its a sff and i think they stopped making it. if i buy a new motherboard and cpu would it just plug and play or would i have to buy windows disc, drivers etc..... thanks for the help guys

The GT 730 might work but that's quite a risky move if you go with that, the dd3 versions has lower power requirements than the ddr5 version.
For games it will handle them with no issues you can see here this guy playing BF3 with it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfaLFDcsYy8

You can as well go with an HD 5670 this one should work just fine

For something even better get an HD 6670 this video shows a guy playing with it using a 220W power supply as shown in the title:

The gt 730 ddr5 will easily work on his 220 watt psu. I have a friend who has been using a gtx 750 ti on his 220 watt psu for 6 months without a single hiccup.

Honestly, you should just get a new machine. The one you currently have has an amd budget laptop cpu that even the old core 2 duos will smoke. It is also soddered to the motherboard, (very rare for a desktop) so you cannot upgrade it. If you do get a new machine, try to get one with and Intel i series cpu.

ok so to get it straight u guys think my 4g ram and the graphics card i posted would will suitable? im not going to upgrade the motherboard or buy a new pc, seems pointless if i can play with what iv got, i dont mind playing in medium setting either for now untill i get abit more advanced with the pc side of things?

While your CPU is the bottleneck here you should be fine with a GT 730 or one of those HD GPUs I mentioned before, 4GB of RAM is more than enough too.

Now let's jump to the CPU issue, your CPU will bottleneck the GPU meaning that the GPU will not run at its full potential (100%) thus the GPU has to slowdown so that the CPU can keep up with it, however that does not mean you won't be able to play your games actually you will but with less performance it depends on games though, you will get less performance if the game is CPU intensive.

Overall getting a good card will massively increase the performance anyway.
You're good to go ^^

Thats great thanks for the support, baring in mind my desktop is a sff it will fit yes? looks rarther wide to me but yes ty will be getting the HD6670 2g. Thanks to all, big help from ThanatosFX. much appreciated bro

Great choice the HD 6670 is a solid card and will perform smoothly, yes it will fit for sure!!
