[SOLVED] What's the best temp drops you've gotten from new thermal paste?

Just cleaned my CPU's fan and heatsink(not too dirty, just a little surface dust) and replaced the OEM paste with MX-4 and wow, my idle temps dropped from 60 down to 30 and my load temps dropped from 80 down to 55. FYI my computer is a 6 year old Acer with a i5 4440.

That temperature drop from thermal paste isn't as big as you think it is; the effect is compounded. The paste itself only accounts for like a single digit difference.

-the application
-the spread from cooler mounting pressure
-age; how long it's been sitting between 2 slabs of metal
The above will affect thermals more than the paste actually does.

If the paste is applied correctly and is still fairly fresh, the greatest impact on thermals then comes from the heatsink/radiator and the fans.
