What's the cheapest CPU I could get with a GTX 1080 TI?

I'm thinking about getting in to pc gaming and want to hit 4k 60fps and was wondering what's the cheapest cpu I could get for a gtx 1080ti or even if I need the 1080ti and a 1080 instead

I would go an i5 7500 or Ryzen 5 1500X. Any lower will more than likley show a bottleneck on the GTX 1080 Ti. But at 4K both those CPUs should do a fine job in most Games with it. Hope this helps

B350 mobo and R5 1600 would do a great job for both 1440p 60 or above and 4k60. 1500x is also good pick but for a just a bit more 1600 is better buy.

Seeing you will be using a 60hz monitor, higher performance than an i5 7600k (overclocked) or Ryzen 5 1600x on amd's side (overclocked aswell) is unnecessary.
If you want a 50FPS + performance goal, go for an i5 7500/Ryzen 5 1500x or above.

Do you think 1080ti Is over kill and the 1080 would be better or do you think is better

1080Ti is made for 4K60, and it will last longer than 1080 if you dont plan to change next year or 2 with new Ti card.
