Whats the diff between these 2 processors

There's another huge factor here pershing...the more expensive processor uses much more power, but has twice the cache on the processor...the cache is memory stored on a chip on the processor, so the speed to access this memory is substantially faster than if the processor has to access the memory through the RAM, which means it has to go through the northbridge and to the RAM. The windsor has 2x1MB L2 cache vs. 1x1MB :)

btw, you could've just asked me :)

Yes, fester is right...only 95W on your mobo...but yes in theory it could easily increase fps as the processor would be able to access that cached memory much quicker...

Again pershing I really think you should go with a new mobo... for now you can overclock the cpu you have, but in the near future your new mobo will be able to take a cpu like a phenom etc., that will have the features you are looking for.

Pershing, I'm trying to think of a good analogy for what you're doing...you've spent good money chasing bad money, invested in that vidcard and psu etc....it's like buying a car and making it look like a killer ride and sinking tons of money into the looks, maybe some racing tires, a rear spoiler and such and not touching the motor one bit....the car might look fast as hell, but well it's not going anywhere any faster than it did b4 :)

Yes it does come with a heat sink. Problem is if you looked at my link you will see people with after market coolers having trouble as well. (read more than just the first page)
Now through in the fact that your CPU socket only has 95 WATT PEAK it will be starving for power and run even hotter!!!

PsychoSD, I realize not all 6000s have this issue. but looking a t a few other forums I've seen it more so with the 6000 than I have with other 64x2s even with after market coolers. I'm glad yours is not one of them. You would think at 89W there wouldn't be a problem being that the 6400s are 125W and I haven't seen people complaining about this issue. Maybe its just the MoBo they have it paired with IDK.
Imho, with the luck Pershing's having at this point-in-time he should probably stay away from that perticular chip. Like I say just my humble opinion.

Ummm, no...

Athlon64 and x2 utilize an onboard memory controler (IMC) which means that the CPU has direct access to system RAM. This means that cache size doesnt have as much of an effect on AMD processors. There is a performance difference, but its barely measurable.

Ummm, yes, except for the Northbridge part, my mistake... yes, there is an integrated memory controller on the AMD cpu, but the cache is still fairly relevant atleast up to 4Mb from the best of my understanding. The IMC while running @ cpu speed is still limited to RAM speed (which is much lower than cpu speed), whereas the cache on the die is not.

and you guys expect the average person to be able to build a computer?
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=346968

Here is one that I have to tell right now. because it just happened like 15 minutes ago and it fails SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard.

My neighbors which I don't really know to well to begin with, got their kids a Wii for Xmas. They got no games for it, but they did get a Classic Controller as well as an additional Nunchuck Combo and a carrying case. They asked me what games they recommended, and I decided to recommend them the Animal Crossing City Folk/Wii Speak bundle, Wario Land Shake It,Mario Kart Wii, and Super mario Galaxy. I also recommended them some VC games including Super mario World, and Sonic 2 8-bit.

Anywho, the Mom asks me what VC is, and I told her. I told her that all she needed to do was put in her credit card when prompted on the Shop Channel, and get the amount of points she wanted. I also told her what WiiSpeak is, and how to connect her Wii to the internet via an ethernet connection.

Anywho, I got a call today from the mom telling me that the Wii is not working. I asked what was wrong and you won't believe it.........

SHE PHYSICALLY PUT 3 CREDIT CARDS INTO THE DISC SLOT.
HOW STUPID DO YOU HAVE TO BE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Also while putting the Wii Speak on top of her sensor bar, she apparently cracked it open. Just ugh. I told her she has to cancel her cards and call Nintendo for a 75USD repair, and now she expects ME to pay for this. Her husband is on my side of the issue, but she is steaming at me right now. Seriously, she put in 1, and thought that that one could not be accepted, so she kept putting them in and they will not come out. I might try to remove them tomorrow with her hubby while she is away on a business trip. The dude's cool, but *beep* the wife...

Ok I paid more than if I had built everything myself due to all the upgrading and getting ripped off a rebate for 30 bucks on the video card that didnt fit in my case and I had to sell on ebay (3850 or something) and they claimed I didnt send them the ups, rebate signatures, and crap which i did the first day getting the card and before even going through their online registration process (but maybe the stamps were too cheap or something), and also because of paying restopcking fee on one of my vid cards I sent back to newegg and possibly the psu. But it still beats paying over 700 bucks on ibuypower or collegepc for a prebuilt for you with vista. I dont know how to install operating systems myself.

Well at least if she tries to take him to court he can get a good laugh at it. I'm sure the judge and anyone else in the courtroom will to.

But no seriously wth?!

Oh and an OS is not that hard to install you just put all the parts together and turn on the pc and put the OS disk into the drive and viola! after that you just follow the prompts like entering a key like you would for a game and any info like what the computer will be called and such. Then it usually formats the drive and oads all the system files and such. Whole process depends on how big your drive is since the larger the drive the longer it takes to format. Actual instal time minus the formatting is like 1hour or so.

even if its pirated its still that easy? ANyway, my mom has a bunch of vituses on her sony laptop and Im thinking of downloading an os and putting it in there but its technically already isntalled on her system. SHe also doesnt have a recovery cd. So how could I reinstall the os for her or override the old one? Just having the cd in there at the beginning of the startup screen will do the trick?

More than likely the only way that you are going to get rid of the virus's is going to be doing a fresh install ie low level formatting the HD, and not using or even making a back up.(hope you have all the install disk's or are able to download them.)
That is if they have been on there a while. Virus's are a very nasty thing and that is the only sure fire way I know to get rid of all of them.

By the way the other differances are that the 125w is a winsor core and the 95w is a brisbane core. Brisbane = smaller process 65nm Winsor = 90nm older, uses more power, and runs hotter.

You could however get the 5000+ Black Edition which at 3.0Ghz is 73w 3.2 @1.37v is 83w and 3.4 @1.4880 is 102w. v for 3.4 was what i had to do u may not have to go that high.

Easist way is to actually hook up the laptops Hd to a comp w/good antivirus SW and format there. but you can also make a floppy with the program fdisk google it to find a download. when booting you can press F8??? maybe F10??? someone will know i cant remember to bring up the start options ie safe mode safe mode w network and dos prompt. now type "A:" hit enter should say A:> now type "fdisk" this will bring up options format the drive and you are done. Just remember YOU WILL ERASE EVERYTHING!!!! AND MUST HAVE AN OS DISK OR YOU JUST SCREWED YOURSELF
you will also have to go into the bios and change the boot drive priority to cd/dvd.
If you do not feel comfortable doing something this severe (and it is) take it to a comp shop for them to fix.
Also only do this after you have exhausted all other options.
