whats the difference between the Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 rev 1.0 and rev 1.1?

Solution
sometimes is just the bios

other times is just color of sockets and sata port colors

the later version is always more desirable, is newer and should come with thermal improvements, a heatsink and things like that

most times is just bios newer than the 1.0 version

oh ok so basically nothing to worry about, thanks

unless you find a article or a person with real information declaring that version 1.0 is the worst thing to happen to mankind and it will destroy yor pc and your life probably, the difference is that simple

unless you find a version 2.0, there, you will find hardware revisions, usb3 ports added where previously weren't any, more pci express slots, different controller for network, sound card, that sort of stuff, smaller improvements just mean a new bios with a patch for a new cpu, or a fix for the same cpus it used to handle

but when i had a look on the specsification page for both motherboards they both litterally had the same everything, so i think the difference was a updated bios maybe. which i can just update myself

that is correct, they don't even bother updating when it is that small

they do update the site when they add a extra usb3 port, or a new pci expess technology is implemented, like it was the case for older models supporting amd am3+ cpus, which were kept in production for many years, improving the same mainboard over the years with small or sometimes large changes like shape, colors of ports, raid coloring on the ports, extra usb 3 or 3.1 ports, changes on heatsinks and changes on capacitors and vrms

on those cases they don't modify the original 1.0 page, when the change is too big they make a new page for the "new" product and they let you sometimes compare the old and the new model

i got the motherboard and it froze on the bios screen. didnt even get a chance to use it. lol. nothing worked, i tried everything you could possibly imagine. it came bricked lol. i guess thats why they recalled the Rev 1.0 versions.
