I've just installed Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C15 XMP 2.0 with a ASUS® Z170 PRO GAMING: ATX, LG1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs motherboard and I can't tell if it's using up to the max 3000mhz frequency

Right, so it should be able to use the whole 3000mhz of the new RAM I've installed? I'm somewhat new to the whole PC stuff, so does this mean that I won't need to do anything for it to use my RAM to its fullest?

You will need to continuously tap the DEL key as your PC is booting to get into your BIOS.
For Specific information about enabling the XMP profile in your specific BIOS you will need to Google for that info.
Or ask for the exact steps to do that on the Asus support forums:
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?88801-Z170-Pro-Gaming-XMP-Profile-Failure
That way someone who has the exact same motherboard can give you the exact method for your motherboard.
