I have an old PC with the below specs:

Processor: I5-2320 (2nd Gen)
Motherboard: ASUS P8 H61-m LX rev 3.0
RAM: 8 GB
PSU: 500W

As my motherboard has only one PCIE x16 2.0 slot what is the max GPU it can support?
I considered getting a GTX 1650 or RTX 3050 as my current GT 730 cannot run Dota 2.

I mostly use it for Coding and Playing Dota 2.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

PSU: 500W
500W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the make and model of the PSU and it's age?

I honestly wouldn't invest on a GPU for that platform, in fact you'd be better off investing that onto a new platform.

pairing it with a 1070 should not be a bad thing considering people used to do it back in the day.

you'll get more stable FPS though if you'd downsample from a higher resolution making Dota2 more GPU bound. locking the framerate to 60fps would also help.

There are some excellent deals for gaming computers from HP and Lenovo that include the graphics card and so no issues with slots or with the connector. I have a 3 year old HP tower with a 1200W PSU but the 4090 power connector did not mate up even with an adapter to the power connector for the power supply.
