I have an ASRock Z590 Steel Legend motherboard I have the CPU and fan installed, and I have the motherboard in the case, resting on top of the standoffs. What type and size of screw should I use to secure thwe motherboard to those standoffs? I have a package of several types and sizes of screws, standoffs, etc., to choose from.

The correct screws are normally included with the case.

Regardless, trial and error will tell you. Test each type gently till you identify the correct type and then proceed.

If your screws did NOT come with your case, you may be in for a surprise.

I don't think there is standardization across the industry, so descriptions aren't likely to help in every situation.

Don't over tighten them. Snuggish is all you need. Do the corners first if possible.

In the US, the common screw used is a 6/32 x 3/16". However, there are some companies like Lian-Li that don't use American standards, but European, so will use an M3 instead. There are also case manufacturers that supply a more common 6/32 x 1/4" but specify use of the included paper washers to prevent bottoming out the screw in the standoff.
