Couple weeks ago, I made the horrendous decision to update my motherboards BIOS via @ BIOS and this happened. To date, I havent been able to fix it, so I just upgraded to a used Z270X Gaming 5.

Im all good now, booted on Windows and all. Thing is I checked the BIOS version and its on F4, which dates back to 2016, while current one is 10b which is from 2018.

Anyway, it goes without saying im staying as far away as possible from @ BIOS as that was clearly an expensive mistake I need to learn from, but Im wondering whats the recommened approach software wise for flashing GB mobos? The latest BIOS version zip comes with something called EfiFlash, which I googled but found close to nothing on how to use it or what exactly it does.

Also saw people using Q-Flash but again, theres not much info online and am unsure wether thats an official Gigabyte program or what?

Also, the link to the "flashing" guide found online is dead, the page no longer exists.

Wondering wether I should go the "if it works, dont touch it" route or not, I really dont want my system to turn into a brick again and at the same time want to get the latest code available for my hardware, uggghhh.

Thanks!

"if it works, dont touch it"
Yes, that is often a viable path.

To update the BIOS, you do it exactly how the manufacturer says, step by step, no deviations.

Well, manufacturer has an app for flashing bios named @ BIOS which according to this forum and my experience is a straight NO. I havent seen them recommending it (actually I dont know what GB recommends really, hence this post) but its official so I guess they encourage users to use it.

So if this forum doesnt recommend @ BIOS as per this post , what do you recommend?

That link is a decade old.

Downloading direct from Gigabyte is a zip file, that extracts out into a Efiflash.exe.
No "@bios app".

I personally would use the QFlash utility that is built into the BIOS to update to a newer version if you are going to update the BIOS.

If your BIOS does NOT have the QFlash utility,
The ONLY other way I would flash your BIOS is with the EFIFlash utiliy that is Included in the .zip file with the BIOS file.

@ Bios is a windows app, and I would absolutely NOT use it to flash a BIOS.
