What's this so much brand loyalty and recommendations about EVGA?

Alright to keep things short i had an argument over another forum about brands and thread got derailed quickly, basically there was some guy asking for advice on which brand he go for his new GTX 1070 and there were some guys quick to jump into telling him why EVGA is best and all.

I see it on toms all the time too and almost every recommendation about brand for NVIDIA cards is about EVGA, usually people aren't much forgiving when about companies make some blunder but most folks have already forgotten the blunder EVGA did with GTX 970 and 980, their heatpipes weren't totally aligned and it ran hotter and louder then other board partner cards. This was just 1 generation ago and yet all i see is EVGA all the time yet neither there cards have best overclock nor they run the coolest. If you want a coolest pascal GPU then zotac has it, MSI is probably the most beautiful and ASUS/Gigabyte/EVGA are all solid brands with neither having an upper hand on other.

Also i hear so much about EVGA and their customer service but i guess unless you are from USA all companies handle warranty equally for other regions. Honestly the last GPU that failed on me was a Pixelview 6600 GT more then a decade ago, these things are built to last and you will hardly ever have to claim warranty for a GPU.

I have nothing against EVGA but i just don't get all the love for them even after making poor last generation cooler design.

Alright i have found the answer myself after doing some searching.
EVGA is an American owned company while MSI/ASUS/Gigabyte have their headquarters in Taiwan. So brand loyalty for EVGA from states is understandable.
So yes if you are from USA then buying an EVGA might be beneficial, for the rest of the world they are like the rest of the manufacturers and have nothing better to offer then others in term of higher clock rates/better temperatures or even more stylish design.

I recommend their PSU's based on the fact that they have always performed well for me in the past. But I have no opinion on their graphics cards as I have never owned one. If their praise is excessive, it might be down to fanboy-ism. For some reason graphics cards on the PC platform are affected by the same disease as gaming consoles.

EVGA is that popular? Have to admit I didn't know. Also never noticed.

Truthfully, brand loyalty is a peculiar mindset which I think stems from a need to justify one's purchase and/or previous good experience. This is a generality which holds across many items. One would like to think there is a correlation between quality and brand, but this isn't always the case.

The first time I bought a graphics card was a Zotac GT 430 or something like that (I had no idea what I was doing back then) and it was a dud. Their customer service was fine but not the actual product. I don't know how good Zotac are, but I was put off by the one experience. (I'm more justified in my increasing dislike of Sony because so many of their products broke down on me over the years that I no longer trust their products.)

I ended up getting an MSI HD 4830 which worked well for gaming purposes. This influenced my decision to stick with MSI for my GTX 750ti.

Why are 'many' invested in EVGA? No idea. Let those who follow a brand do so, and see what their justifications are. It may make sense; some times not. Perhaps it's simply different people have different priorities in what they look for and certain flaws can be ignored for them.

If we're referring to blunders... well... wasn't there an nVidia thing about the 970? Perhaps some things are just more forgivable.

Yes EVGA is quite popular, if you do some search even in toms then you will find out most ppl recommend EVGA and as i said in earlier post its probably because the only tier 1 GPU partner company from America.
I said before i have nothing against EVGA, i pick what's available and solid brand for the best price. For me, Gigabyte/Asus/MSI are top tier brands when it comes to nvidia gpu's, i removed EVGA from my list because of their poor heatsink design in last generation and i will wait atleast 2-3 generations to see if they deserve a spot back on top tier 1.
I currently own an MSI GTX 1080, before that i had gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming SLI, i also have an asus maximus vi hero mobo and corsair PSU so i just don't stick to one brand unless they are reasonably better then the other.

And no NVIDIA didn't get away with their blunder they did with GTX 970, they were sued and had to pay 970 owners (well atleast in the states).

nVidia didn't get away from the 970 situation in a legal sense, which is different to whether consumers forgave them for it. Ie. nVidia didn't escape from the courts of law, but did they escape from the courts of public opinion? (Quite frankly, I've no idea.)

I highly doubt any company has a 100% record of good performance; some people are just more willing to overlook certain unfavourable aspects.

Truthfully, such purchases should be evaluated in their own rights and compared likewise. Perhaps EVGA have a better track record for some people?

Mind you, certain brands necessitate a following more than others. (Product dependent, of course. I'm also thinking beyond just PC related items.)
