What's writing to my disk?

I am running a new installation of Win XP on an Athlon XP system.Several times a day for about 10-15 minutes at a time there is a small amount of writing to the disk. It's barely enough to flicker the hd light and it's sort of rhythmic kind of like a ticking clock. Also, it's not enough to hiccup my pc when I'm playing Links Golf, which I play a lot.
I have all the default processed running in Win XP pro, along with Zone Alarm and NAV. This is just a minor thing but I'm curious.
Any ideas?

Could it be the system restore feature?

Since you have ZA and NAV loaded up, it could be either of those, or the processes that run with WinXP.
