Whats Wrong CPU!!!

Basically i got my new CPU on Christmas and its been working perfectly hovering at 20% not in use so then today my game started lagging a bit, i was surprised that my game started randomly getting low fps and that hasn't happened before. So i checked my task manager and my CPU hovers around 90% to 100% and its really annoying because It was quite expensive does anyone know how to fix this problem? I am alright with computers so I could take my CPU out and clean it and put some more paste if that maybe helps. And I checked before in game it was like 40% so its not the game changing the percentage. So yeh does anyone know how to fix this? I have a AMD FX 8350 8 Core 4GHz.

What game is it? What's the rest of your system like? What settings are you using? Are you overheating?

By way of CPUs for gaming, the 8350 can still contend with low end CPUs but it won't be performing up to par with any of Intel's i5 or i7s.
