In BIOS its showing the primary video adapter as PCI but my card is Nvidia 8600 and is PCI Express x16. The graphics card does show in Device Manager though.
I been having graphics problem so i reinstalled Windows but still having the problems, i attached a picture of what the screen looks like before my computer crashes and freezes.
There are colored artifacts that streak across the screen.
It happens when I use my photo software, try to play games, try to watch TV thru my tuner card and even when i opened the Nvidia control panel.
Weird it doesnt happen when i watch videos online and it usually doesnt happen when i watch video files from my computer.
It even happened when i reinstalled Windows during installing Microsoft Service Pack 2 i attached a photo.
Luckily it happened near the end of the SP2 installation and the computer restarted after it crashed and it said SP2 was installed.

Then the BIOS is probably just labeling it incorrectly for some reason. Or it just tries the PCI slot first for a video card and moves on to something else. If the computer was really trying to talk to the video card through the PCI protocol, it wouldn't even work. Not that it can even attempt to do so since the PCI wires aren't even connected to the PCIe interface.

so no need to switch it to PCI Express 16?
im having problems running dskchk on my C drive in safe and reg mode gets stuck at 26% stage 5.
Do you know if its safe to dismount the C drive since Windows is written on there im scared to do it.

It sounds like whatever computer you're using is old and long in the tooth. And the computer models the motherboard was in were essentially commodity PCs.

Basically what I'm saying is the parts are failing. Unless you really need this computer for some reason, I suggest abandoning it.
