Hello everyone !

As the title says, which is your most favorite Gaming GENRE ? And, what all games do you actually play, be it any genre, or a mixture of 2 genres ?

Some examples of genres: Action game, Action role-playing game, SIMs like City-building or a Flight game, First-person shooter, Tactical role-playing game, Third-person shooter, Tactical shooter, "Platform game", Racing video game, Real-time strategy, Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter game, 2D Fighting games, Stealth game, Sim racing, and Role-playing video game among others.

Mine is mostly First-person Shooters, with some third-person action Games, like Gears of War 4, Mass Effect 3, DEAD SPACE, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, JUST CAUSE. Though, FPS has always remained my topmost priority.

On another note, I'm still getting so side tracked by Days Gone, and now Mass Effect Legendary and Andromeda, that I'm continuing to forget to try to get past the place I'm stuck at in RE Village. It's the spot fairly early on not long after you get into the castle, where there are 4 statues that rotate into 2 different positions each. For some reason I can't find the right combination, and the clue on the wall seems misleading. Whenever I get stuck on things like this, I always wish there was a way to get a vague hint, vs full spoiler, like a better explanation of what the clue means, but without actually telling you how to position the statues.

LOL, I actually stopped playing RE Village, ever since I was stuck in the beginning of the game and I couldn't solve any of the puzzles so that I can progress further. It was a bit frustrating for me, since I'm new to such type of games. Couldn't find any hint. I think I also got stuck in a similar puzzle, as far as I can recall. There were also 4 statues, I'm almost certain of this, but I think the game was asking for a Mask for each of the statues.

Edit:: Yes, I think this same area in the game. https://guides.gamepressure.com/resident-evil-village/guide.asp?ID=58984 But maybe your puzzle might be different though.

BTW, I thought you have already beaten the full RE Village campaign before ?

I ended up looking for a hint, but since it revealed to set the two statues of females facing each other, I went ahead and read the whole thing. I'm now halfway through the statues you need to find masks for (which I did not seek help on).

No, I've never played all the way through Village, and I have to say, so far there's WAY too much puzzling and not enough combat for my tastes.

BTW, don't know if you've seen or heard any of this, but there's just been a pretty good teaser revealed for the next Mass Effect game. There's talk that they may use Unreal Engine again instead of Frostbite, so if true, that could mean less labor time and less bugs. After the disasters and delays around ME Andromeda and Anthem, I think EA is finally getting a clue. It's speculated we won't see ME 5 until 2025 though, due to them releasing the next Dragon Age in 2023 I think.

I couldn't help but think when Liara picks up the piece of N7 helmet at the end, that she was smiling because she had intel that Shepard was found alive and kept in cryo. After all, Shepard is shown taking a breath at the end of the very last cutscene of ME3, and the devs verified that meant he had not died. Due to the crows feet and laugh lines on Liara's face, some speculate this will take place a good 2 centuries or more after ME 3. It's looking like it could involve both Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies too, which is very ambitious if so.

Same here. For me beating this game would be like sacrificing my whole time, energy, and looking for hints and gameplay walkthroughs posted online. Even after that I doubt I might be able to beat this game. You are a PRO and hardcore gamer, and imagine how tough it would be for me to finish this title, since I'm a casual gamer, mostly in FPS and TPP games, unlike you.

Yes, I think I have seen that teaser video before. Yes, they would be using Frostbite engine for this title. That trainer didn't show much though. And I also think a new Dragon Age game migth come out before ME, imo.

As a matter of fact, EA and BioWare are also removing the multiplayer mode from the new upcoming Dragon Age game, and will focus on delivering a single-player experience. This is what Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier wrote. It would be great if the next DA game has a strong single player campaign ! I have only played INQUISITION. Never played DA 1 and DA 2.

“The diverging trajectories of two recent games changed the minds of Wilson and other executives at EA, according to the people. One was Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a single-player game released in November 2019 that won critical acclaim and outperformed EA’s sales expectations, reaching more than 10 million players in its first four months. The second was BioWare’s Anthem, a multiplayer game that was widely panned when it launched. The games showed that single-player games could still be lucrative and that BioWare, traditionally known for its single-player, role-playing games, might be better off returning to its roots.”

Yes, they would be using Frostbite engine for this title.
Don't know why you replied "Yes" to that, when I was saying they might be going back to using Unreal Engine, unless you meant to say Unreal Engine instead? They have already put out a notice saying they are looking for an Unreal Engine expert, and are open to anything for the next Mass Effect, including using UE.

Frostbite takes far longer to code with because it involves writing far more code. This is a big part of the reason ME Andromeda and Anthem were released with so many bugs and had to have a major overhaul. That kind of thing gets very expensive, and can affect sales as well. Just to bake in lighting in a scene can take days in FB, vs hours in UE.

Yeah obviously I meant to say Unreal Engine, not Frostbite, lol. Typo error from confusion ! I think this has been more or less confirmed by several gaming websites and blog posts.

And like you mentioned, they are currently also hiring an expert and an experienced dev for this. This information primarily comes from an EA job listing for a technical director for Mass Effect 5.

The funny thing is, had EA not tried to limit their creativity, to the point of making key members of the team leave, there would still be devs on the Bioware team that know UE plenty well enough. I mean all the trilogy games were done on UE, and quite well.

Hey Frag, have you bought and played this game yet ? DEATHLOOP ! I enjoyed playing Dishonored series by Arkane studios back when it was released. Dishonored 2 was my favorite though. Pretty good game. Deathloop seems to share similar gameplay mechanics like those 2 games, if I'm not mistaken.

But hard to comment how good is this new game. It appears that the game has severe stuttering issues due to DENUVO, as evident from these STEAM reviews. Though, I don't pay that much attention to any review.

Some gamers are citing "memory write access error" as well that this game currently suffers from. I'm just waiting for the devs to release a patch for this game soon, and to optimize it further if these issues are indeed widespread.

BTW, reviews from sites like IGN, Polygon, TheVerge and few others are highly positive. IGN even gave it a 10/10 score ! ? WTH ! :openmouth:

I've seen the hype about Deathloop, and there's even a full game video walkthrough of it at 4K. It's less than 3 hrs long, and was nowhere near a speedrun, so there can't be much to the game. I just don't see anything interesting in this game. It looks very repetitive and arcade to me, and what little story it has, is not to my liking.

I've played all the Dishonored stuff. I would say it's a bit more interesting than Deathloop, but I wouldn't say I liked it a ton.

It's been a while since I posted any gaming content. Here's my latest two offerings. They're both boss fights against the biggest enemy in Mass Effect Andromeda, which are called Architects. They're sort of what replaces the Reapers from the past games. These are both done on Hardcore mode. The weapon primarily used is the N7 Piranha Shotgun.

The first is the one on the planet Voeld, which I always assumed was the hardest to take down due to it being the only one that takes place in extremely cold whether, which means you have to stay near the heaters to avoid your suit's life support system failing, resulting in imminent death once it does. Via trial and error, I found a method that allows it to be done pretty fast, with pretty good cover, and close to heaters.

The other one takes place on Eos, the planet you place your first outpost on, which is more sunny and desert-like. This one took longer, due to a few reasons. For one, I wasted the first 2 min using bad tactics (staying in cover in one spot too much and taking damage from AoE attacks). I was also experimenting with fully upgraded trip mines, vs the fully upgraded Omni grenades, which were far more effective against the Voeld Architect. I also used Cryo ammo against the Eos Architect (because I had way more of it in my inventory), vs the Incendiary I used against the Voeld one, which doesn't do quite as much damage. The fight is also more spaced out and takes longer to relocate when the Architect moves to another spot. Plus there's at times little cover when you're finding ammo caches while the Architect spawns reinforcements. The combination of the 2 means you can miss opportunities to attack when the Architect is vulnerable.

However, in the end I DID perfect a method of fighting the Architect up close without cover by running laterally until it stopped using it's gun, or until I got just outside it's AoE targeting system, then hovered. With the perks available purchased for Aerial Combat, all of which I had, you can do quite a bit more damage while in your jet pack's hover mode. So Omni Grenades, plus the hover tactic, plus Incendiary ammo, would likely have made the fight closer to the length of the Voeld one. This may come in handy if I decide to do a run on Insanity mode.

I now have 7 of the 9 Remnant Cores, which you get for defeating Architects and activating underground vaults. The latter activates the Remnant Purification, which is deadly and has to be outrun as you escape, but also heals a planet's hostile atmosphere over time. I'm not sure how many Architects there are left to fight, if any, but I will post them if I encounter more.

My one gripe about capturing ME Andromeda gameplay is ShadowPlay will only capture it at 720p, no matter what you have the ShadowPlay capture res set to. It may even be restricted to that res regardless of capture tool or GPU vendor. However I added more bitrate when compressing and with my usual resizing to 1440p, they came out looking OK, even fullscreen on my 32" display. However I cannot say how they might look on a larger screen.

Hey there frag. Good info on those Mass Effect Andromeda Boss fights I will reply back in more detail later on. Got stuck with some busy work these days, and I couldn't take out time to browse these forums. But I will post shortly.

I think I might buy Mass Effect Andromeda as well, and give it a try. I know this ME game didn't meet the fans expectations, but I think the game is not THAT bad either imo.

Yeah, like I said, ME Andromeda, especially after the weird facial and other animations got fixed, is a pretty decent game to play. There's also a couple tools you can fix the mouse cursor hanging onscreen with, one of which I used for the last part of the game once I found out about that.

ME Andromeda is definitely worth playing for any Mass Effect fan, and who knows, it may tie in a bit story wise to the next game.

Here's just one more ME Andromeda video, the only other one I made during my whole Hardcore play through. It's the very tough boss fight against a Progenitor in a mission called The Remnant Tiller. It's a very difficult enemy to deal with.

I agree. A slight quick update from my side. Just started playing Andromeda, and it feels like a decent ME game, albeit with some minor changes. Not sure how the facial animations were before the game was patched, but they feel okay-ish now. Just encountered the first enemy on the mission, "Planetside". I think these are aliens/KETT on Habitat 7.

I guess I will encounter more enemies as I progress through the game. In total it appears that there are also almost 7-8 BOSS fights , but some are very tough as well. I'm not sure If I can beat all of them on my first playthrough. Btw, it appears this ME game also has the same old "ROMANCE" and flirt option, like previous ME games, lol. But I never tried any of these, not my taste though.

The missions in itself are very big, and it takes a LOT of time to complete all the main and side quests. I also read most of the CODEX entries as well, if not all. BTW, that Remnant Tiller quest takes place on the planet H-047c I guess. There aren't too many missions we can complete on this planet though.

Btw, which training selection class did you for Security, Biotic, Technician, Leader, Scrapper or Operative ? I guess this is also important and it might affect the entire gameplay as well. By selecting the right training type we could gain access to powerful abilities as soon as we reach level two imo. I have opted for the soldier/security class though.

Damn I can't change it now....

Okay, I just wanted to share this news. This upcoming PC game gives me vibes of SHADOW WARRIOR 2 to some extent. Bright Memory: Infinite. I never played the original Bright Memory title, but this first episode looks promising, at least based on the gameplay footage shown by the dev teams.

Some press release stuff taken from DSOGaming and few other gaming sites.

FYQD Studio and PLAYISM have announced that Bright Memory: Infinite will release on November 12th. The game will expand on the visceral combat experience of its prequel Bright Memory. Players will be able to utilize guns, blades, and special abilities altering time and gravity to slay mythological beasts and futuristic soldiers in brutal fashion and rack up dazzling combos in the process.

Players can slice off enemy limbs then deploy new wall-running and blocking techniques. Additionally, they can use each weapon’s new special effect with the last bullet, such as tracking missiles or incendiary bombs, and leave no foe in one piece. Furthermore, they can upgrade protagonist Shelia’s weapon proficiency and skills with a detailed skill tree, enabling a highly-customizable combat experience.

FYQD Studio worked closely with NVIDIA throughout the entire development process of Bright Memory: Infinite after the addition of ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS to the original Bright Memory, and the release of the Bright Memory: Infinite Ray Tracing Benchmark. Bright Memory: Infinite features DLSS, ray-traced reflections, shadows, caustic effects, and global illumination. Moreover, it will support NVIDIA Reflex to minimize latency for an unforgettable experience.

Zeng, indie game developer at FYQD Studio, said:

“Bright Memory: Infinite is the culmination of years of work to prove just what indie developers are capable of. I look forward to blowing fans away with an experience that’s not just good-looking, but incredibly fun.”

The graphics look far better than I anticipated, as the video thumbnail doesn't do it justice. It's not the graphics or even the gameplay features you mentioned I'm hesitant about, it's the characters and story. It just doesn't pique my interests. This has the feel of a Japanese made game, but it seems the dev team is Chinese.

I have to say though, this looks like ambitious work for an Indie dev team.

Yeah, actually to be honest, the game looks promising given it is coming from a small studio, Indie dev team. But I think the campaign and the story length is going to be short. Even the main protagonist of this game doesn't suit my taste as well, but I will keep an eye out just in case this game turns out to be good.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the FYQD Studio is comprised of just 1 game developer. ( Zeng Xian Cheng ) . I don't think there are any other developers/artists/programmers working on this game IMO. It's strange if this game title is being developed by a single individual. ! So kudos to this guy's work and effort.

BTW, a new gameplay developer Video has been showcased recently for the upcoming ELDEN RING game from Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. Looks like a DARK SOULS clone to me though. The same punishing difficulty and strong Bosses. Anyway, some press release info of this upcoming RPG.

In Elden Ring, players will ride through the vast fields, gallop over rolling hills, and leap to the top of rocky crags on your ephemeral steed, revealing a world teeming with life and danger.

The game will have mythic creatures that prowl the veldts, ineffable horrors that lurk in the bogs and marshes, and all manner of soldiers and itinerant warriors. Moreover, shy creatures will nibble on sweet grasses or scuttle through the underbrush. Furthermore, players can try dozens of skills and find one to best suit their style. Players can practice stealth to avoid danger or catch enemies unaware. Additionally, they can use the environment, the weather, and the time of day to gain an advantage.

The game will also rely on dodge and parry mechanics. Players will have to learn the art of combat where they must read their enemy’s intentions. Thus, a well-timed dodge or parry could be the difference between life and death. Elden Ring will release on February 25th, 2022.

More like amazing, he must be very talented.

BTW, I feel compelled to update you on my latest thoughts about RE Village. After drudging through the outdoor areas, and missing out on the Beneviento treasure due to not getting the key for it in time, and missing the Necklace With Two Holes full value due to being mislead into thinking I should sell it when the value was more with it's original stone removed, I have changed my opinion about the game.

What turned it around for me was Heisenberg's Factory. That part of the game alone is worth the price of admission.

Here's a small clip I saved from it.

Note after the Soldat Elris pokes it's drill through the door, I demonstrate that it cannot
harm you when he's in the door busting animation. These guys are adorably clumsy I think.
I like to call these lowest level ones Soldat Elvis Who Forgot How To Dance.

This is just a very small example of what the factory has in it. The game literally came alive for me there.

I'm currently playing some old games like FAR CRY 3, Serious Sam 2, SKYRIM, DOOM 3, Soldier of Fortune 2, QUAKE 4, and few other random titles. I also need to complete HALO Master Chief collection, before HALO INFINITE comes out next month.

IGN has recently shared a video, showing 5 minutes of brand new gameplay footage from Halo Infinite’s campaign mode. This video showcases the “The Conservatory” mission, a mission that takes place a few hours into Halo Infinite’s campaign. In Halo Infinite’s SP Mode, the Master Chief returns to confront the most ruthless foe he’s ever faced. It looks and feels like the same old copy/paste gameplay formula, IMO.

I think Cortana is back, or she got replaced with some other similar AI in this game entry, LOL, but we will soon find out on December 8'th 2021, when the game finally launches.

a little update. Dead or Alive VI acquired some weeks ago, and have been playing a bit since then. Thankfully, budget gaming pc (on sig) is enough to run the game just fine. Characters move fast, and it's visually satisfying.

also now actively playing Genshin Impact with friend. Friend created a channel on discord, and he guides me on what a beginner has to do. I'm only level 5, so can't play co-op yet, but soon we will. The game runs well at medium settings.

Genshin Impact is a nice game from what I know so far. But I haven't tried playing this open-world action RPG, since I know this is an always-online title, even for the campaign part. I like the game's settings very much though, and that Paimon, your lovable/irritating companion has a really CUTE voice, lol. :D

Anyway, currently started playing RE: VILLAGE.
