Hello everyone !

As the title says, which is your most favorite Gaming GENRE ? And, what all games do you actually play, be it any genre, or a mixture of 2 genres ?

Some examples of genres: Action game, Action role-playing game, SIMs like City-building or a Flight game, First-person shooter, Tactical role-playing game, Third-person shooter, Tactical shooter, "Platform game", Racing video game, Real-time strategy, Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter game, 2D Fighting games, Stealth game, Sim racing, and Role-playing video game among others.

By the way, if you or anyone like insane challenges, then there is a HORDE mod for the game DAYS GONE. I stumbled upon this recently, lol. This mod makes all hordes more challenging by raising the number of zombies.

In the vanilla version, the Hordes have between 50 and 500 swarmers. This mod changes that range to 280-600. Furthermore, a boss horde further increases that number to 670 zombies. But the modder did not simply increase the number of swarmers to ridiculous numbers in all areas. Nope. Instead, he followed Bend Studio’s Tier modes.

There are currently six Tier modes which are:
  • Tier 0 200. ( Little Bear Lake Horde – Because obvious its smallest original and sleep in a very small house , gonna look ridiculous as it is (sleep outside hous or on top of heads others)
  • Tier 1. ( Cascade Region ) 280 (boss horde – 320) Grotto Caves Horde
  • Tier 2 360. (Belknap Region) (boss horde – 400) Patjens Lakes Horde
  • Tier 3. (Lost Lake Region) 440 (boss horde – 480) Metolius Lava Cave Horde
  • Tier 4. (Highway 97 Region ) 520 (boss horde – 580) Lobert Draw Ridge Horde
  • Tier 5. (Crater Lake Region ) 600 (boss horde – 670) Mt. Bailey Horde
I personally haven't tried this mod, as I need to fully re-install the game, and I haven't even finsihed the full story yet. But there are too many zombies for my taste. BTW, this mod works as long as you have not explored new areas and discovered the horde prior to the mod. Otherwise, you’ll have to start a new game, IMO.

Resetting jobs (hordes) from game pause menu after 100% completion also works.

Yeah I'm well aware of the Massive Hordes mod, and mentioned before that I was playing my last run on Survival II with it.

Oh yes, I almost forgot that ! You mentioned about this before as well. I will give it a try once I beat the full game.

On some other breaking news, we might be getting a new SERIOUS SAM game pretty soon. But, this could be just a DLC or an Add-on for Serious Sam 4, imo, though I'm just guessing at this point. But this won't be Serious Sam 5 at any cost.

I actually love the entire Serious Sam series. Currently re-playing SS2 as well. It's just endless run and gun fun ! 🤘 But anyway, Devolver Digital has just teased a brand new Serious Sam game. According to the publisher, this new Serious Sam game will be officially announced next week, and will release later this month.

From the looks of it, it will have snowy and frozen environments. Serious SAM 4 was a disappointment though, especially the game's graphics. I hope this spin-off is going to be slightly better, if not more.

They actually teased this on YT 3 weeks back as well. It's the same teaser, but with high quality.

Some UPDATE on my previous post. It is now official. Devolver has announced a brand new Serious Sam game, Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is a new stand-alone expansion game in this series. This was to be expected. I'm sort of hyped though, lol. Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is a standalone expansion to Serious Sam 4. The game features five levels and almost 50 weapons.

The game is set to be released on 25 January 2022. This game has actually been created by indie developer Timelock Studio, formerly a well-known Serious Sam modding team, that's working on the project under the guidance of original Serious Sam studio Croteam.

New enemies and bosses will join the original horde, to be splattered in fun and interesting ways with new weapons and vehicles including snowmobiles and new mechs.

It's clearly still very much the old Serious Sam, though, which is to say massive hordes of ridiculous enemies charging the player from all directions while bullets fly and everything explodes. That's not a bad thing—really, it's the essence of the Serious Sam experience, and I am absolutely here for that—but I hope that along with all the new stuff in Siberian Mayhem, the designers have also tightened up the level designs. Big levels are great, but roaming aimlessly for minutes at a time through open, empty spaces is not.

FWIW, the game is still having modest system specs, so it's not going to be graphic demanding on the PC as well.

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem PC System Requirements

MINIMUM:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
    • Processor: 4-core CPU @ 2.5 GHz
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: nVidia GeForce 780/970/1050 or AMD Radeon 7950/280/470 (3 GB VRAM)
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 25 GB available space
    • Additional Notes: Requirements are based on 720p rendering resolution at 30 FPS
RECOMMENDED:

    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (1909)
    • Processor: 8-core CPU @ 3.3 GHz
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM
    • Graphics: nVidia GeForce 1080/2060 or AMD Radeon Vega64/5700 (8 GB VRAM)
    • DirectX: Version 11

Actually that's why I gave up on what I call mindless horde games. When all the AI can do is charge the player, it gets old really fast. I was into the first couple iterations of Serious Sam and Painkiller, but then they got stale for me.

At least Painkiller was a bit deeper with a Tarot card system, the ability to jib enemies for gold, and valuable power ups in secret areas that were challenging to get to. I got pretty good at juggling corpses with the Painkiller weapon to make gold coins rain from them, and momentum hopping to build up speed to pull off difficult jumps to secrets, but I need more than a mindless horde when it comes to combat.

Speaking of more FPS games, it appears that we might get to see SHADOW WARRIOR 3 this coming March 2022. I didn't like Shadow Warrior 2 THAT much unlike other shooters, but I just hope the devs don't make this another looter-shooter sort of game.

Anyways, assuming this is Legit, Microsoft Store may have leaked the release date for Shadow Warrior 3. According to its official MS store page, this highly anticipated first-person shooter will release on March 1st.

Btw, here is one gameplay video from E3 2021. The game appears to be the same fast-paced shooter like the previous entries.

Devolver Digital has released a new video, showcasing the first ten minutes from Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. The LEVEL design and environment looks interesting and cool, but the rest of the gameplay is more or less the same copy/paste formula Serious Sam series is known for.

But this is just a standalone expansion pack, and will feature only five new levels. These levels will be set in a beautiful and dangerous world, from Arctic coastlines and desolate forests to abandoned villages and a chilling ghost town. The game will have around 50 weapons; from the legendary AK to the experimental ‘Perun’ crossbow. Additionally, players can expect the game to feature a number of side quests as well.

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem will release on January 25th.

Is anyone playing GOD of WAR on the PC yet ? I kind of actually like the gameplay mechanics, especially the AXE throw/grab action. Reviews on the web are really positive though, and it appears to be a decent PC port, if not the best. Runs smoothly on a variety of PC configurations. And the Mouse+ Keyboard combo also works really nice.

Nice graphics as well, but still nothing like next-gen 'wow-ish' visuals in my opinion.

I just got it a couple days ago and installed it. Haven't even launched it yet though. Last night I was up until 5AM playing Halo Infinite. It was supposed to be just a capturing of the Nexus level where I left off, but I started worrying about weapon strategies being wrong, and labored through finishing the game to see if any of my weapon choices would be a problem.

I still have the Nexus save set aside, and reloaded it at the end of my session. A few things I noticed were, you cannot take even the fight with the two regular Hunters for granted. I carried in a BR 75 Assault Rifle and the Sentinel Beam, and wished like hell I'd have taken a Skewer. I had a pretty good result using the Cindershot in one spot where there's a tough battle with 2 cloaked Elites, but despite it working well on the Skimmers in the final battle, it was a real PITA to use on the Elites and the Chieftan that spawn in the last wave, so I used the Sentinel Beam on some of them.

It really felt harder than my last play through on Legendary with no upgrades, partly due to the bad luck with end of wave checkpoints. It was mainly the last wave checkpoint happening when I was FAR away from the doors enemies spawn at, making it impossible to restock nades and get there in time to commandeer the alcove they come from to use as cover. I mean I must of spent at least a few hours just trying to get that last wave done. It was hell trying to avoid death from both the Chieftan chasing me, and Skimmers and Elites one shotting me with long range Shock and Sniper rifles.

It feels like this game makes it harder on you each time you beat it on Legendary, as if to say, this isn't going to be as easy as last time sonny. At this point I'm torn between wanting to have a look at God of War, and just wanting to get this Halo walkthrough over with. Maybe I was just partly feeling the long session making me battle weary though, I guess I'll find out when I get back to it.

I have the Chaos Blades now in God of War, wow, what a weapon. It literally turns you into a non stop slice and dice machine. However the Valkeries that come at the end game, which I'm now into, definitely require better weapons, armor, and enhancements. I'm level 5 right now, but it's said you need to be level 6 to take on Valkeries effectively, and even then, you really need to know what you're doing and dodge their dive attacks.

One major nit pick I have however is a little while ago, Brok said he could make the portals work both ways now, which I've heard is the 80% progression point of the game, yet Brok's main shop is still the only one I can travel to. All the other Mystic Gates are still locked. It's not so bad on you're first play through, as you're exploring and collecting a lot for the first time, but on subsequent play throughs, this is going to get quite annoying.

On a side note, word is, after 8 years in development, the RE 4 HD Project mod was finally made available 2/2/22. This is a mod made for the Steam version that was called an HD Remaster, but didn't fully deliver on it.

Yes, I know about that RE4 HD project Mod. Looks impressive modding work, but unfortunately I don't have the game on STEAM. Might give it a try though.

Yes God of War is a challenging game for sure. It's a nice game no doubt. I like Krato's Runic attacks pretty much, both Light and Heavy. Even the "Spartan Rage" ability comes handy in any combat. Regarding the portal I think we need to first unlock all the Mystic Gates first.

It’s essentially a fast travel system that allows you to quickly zip across the map, jumping from one region to the next without having to spend too much time walking around. You won’t immediately be able to use these gateways though. At first you can only travel to Brok's shop. As you progress in the story, you will be able to roam freely between them, but I think these gates are unidirectional ?

Even I'm not 100% sure how this works though. A bit confusing. But I do know that once you get the Unity Stone, you need to approach the Mystic Gateway, and it’ll be unlocked. Once you step inside the gateway, you have to stay in a place between the Realms, and after you select the destination location, the teleport appears, and you’ll reach your destination. Without the Unity Stone, we can only visit the Mystic Gateway at Tyr’s Temple to travel to other unlocked Mystic Gateways, IMO.

BTW, first just watch this new gameplay trailer of Ghostwire: Tokyo PC game. The combat mechanics looks pretty dope to me. This game will release on 25'th March 2022.

Yeah I thought I already updated what I said about the Unity Stone here, but apparently I only did on the PC Gamer forum. I also needed to get one more language cipher to unlock Muspelheim though, which ironically was right under the witch's house without my knowing it.

First I went to Niflheim to farm enough supplies to make a full set of Ivaldi's Armor though, which I've yet to do. I just got back from Muspelheim and completed 5 of the 6 trials arenas. It was really fun, especially with the upgrades I've got now. There was one with Dark Elves that was very tough, I've got some captures with some pretty good footage though.

The 6th arena unfortunately is a Valkerie, and I failed 3 times already. It's going to take far more than a better set of armor for her. They're very fast, and if you don't dodge their attack when they yell Valhalla with perfectly timed repeated rolls, you're pretty much dead. I can see why they make them optional bosses.

As for Ghostwire Tokyo, from the day they first showed a teaser of it I didn't care for the concept much. After seeing this extended look, I have to say it looks a bit too arcade, cartoony, and silly to me. It kinda looks like Control and Sunset Overdrive had an ugly baby and called it a horror game. Sorry, just my take.

Techland has just released Dying Light 2 on PC and has been downgraded from its original vision. Sad state of affairs for the gaming industry.

YouTube’s Nick930 has shared a video in which he compares the E3 2018 and 2019 versions of the game with its retail PC version. For this video, Nick930 used all the Ray Tracing effects that are present on PC.

Now as you will see, the city of Dying Light 2 took a big hit. In the retail version, the city is less dense and has simpler buildings. Moreover, the lighting was also better in the early E3 builds. Not only that, but the game now has a more “saturated” and less realistic look to it.

What’s interesting here is that the final game features the mission that Techland showcased back in E3 2019. By comparing this mission, we can easily notice the cuts that Techland made during the game’s production. And yes, you will easily notice the downgraded visuals of the final version.

Yeah I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the look of DL2. Looks like it might be another bargain bin game.

Yup. This trend has been very common now in the Gaming industry. That's why I have lost faith in most of the game developers these days, if not all. I mean these days they are just releasing buggy, half/poorly optimized, and low quality games. They don't even beta test some of the AAA major titles. And we have to download N number of patches after the release day.

They even downgrade the game's visuals/graphics, and other gameplay mechanics. Btw, I heard even DEATHLOOP is not a very polished game ? Have you played this FPS ?

Btw, I heard even DEATHLOOP is not a very polished game ? Have you played this FPS ?
Like I said when it was mentioned earlier, I never took much interest in Deathloop, looks like an overhyped game to me. Plus the AI is horrible, which is where a lot of the bugs are I think. You can easily create a kill zone by standing atop some stairs and making noise, then mow them down as they approach, and the enemies will often get stuck in an animation, making it even easier to kill them.

True, a lot of games release with little to no testing, but it also makes games like Gears 5, Days Gone, Halo Infinite, and God of War 4 look all the better. If someone had told me 5 years ago that Microsoft and Sony would be putting out some of the best games on PC by now, I'd never have believed it.

I'm trying to stay at least a bit optimistic, as there are a few upcoming games I'm hopeful for, like IO's Project 007. I've also read Rocksteady is working on a Suicide Squad game, and CAPCOM are supposedly going to make an RE4 Remake. Then there's Callisto Protocol too.

It will no doubt be years before we ever see God of War Ragnarok or another Halo game on PC though, and who knows if they'll MAKE another Days Gone, for console even. The online petition for a Days Gone 2 has now reached nearly 162,000 signatures though. I just hope Sony are keeping an eye on that. That many full price purchases could total about 3 million in profits, but games take FAR more than that to make.

I think it comes down to MS and Sony having a captive audience. Advertising their games is easy because of the console environment and their existing media outlets. They can afford to wait until the game is closer to finished and actually play tested.

Those not associated with MS or Sony directly have to spend a lot more, which means their deadlines have to be more definite. A shame really, I wouldn't even consider traditional marketing these days. I would just blast my game out to all the twitch streamers and youtubers that operate in that genre, and give them zero directives other than play the game and comment. Some will like it, some won't, but their audiences will tend to be like minded.

Unless you know you've made a bad game, then traditional marketing makes some sense. Or go straight to shady bait and switch marketing. Cut scenes only, never mind the gameplay!

Yeah, that's very true, a lot of people have to piggy back onto social media outlets to afford to advertise these days, kinda sad really.

I think die hard DARK SOULS fans might be interested in this upcoming title, which is ELDEN RING. I'm not much into these type of RPGs though, since these kind of games are very challenging and have punishing difficulty as well. If this game turns out to be similar to SKYRIM, OBLIVION or Witcher series, then I might give it a try, but I doubt this is gonna happen.

Because it copies most of the gameplay mechanics from the DARK SOULS series, SEKIRO shadows die twice, and Bloodborne title. Also, the combat in Elden Ring relies heavily on character-building elements found in previous Souls games and related intellectual properties, such as calculated & close-ranged melee-based combat with the use of skills, magic abilities, as well as blocking and dodging mechanics.

Anyways, game developer FromSoftware has released a new set of screenshots for Elden Ring via its official Twitter account. These screenshots showcase some of the game’s environments, as well as some of the enemies you will face.

According to the game's official description, in Elden Ring players will ride through the vast fields, gallop over rolling hills, and leap to the top of rocky crags on your ephemeral steed, revealing a world teeming with life and danger.

Elden Ring will have mythic creatures that prowl the veldts, ineffable horrors that lurk in the bogs and marshes, and all manner of soldiers and itinerant warriors. Moreover, shy creatures will nibble on sweet grasses or scuttle through the underbrush. Furthermore, players can try dozens of skills and find one to best suit their style. Players can practice stealth to avoid danger or catch enemies unaware. Additionally, they can use the environment, the weather, and the time of day to gain an advantage.

Elden Ring will NOT support framerates higher than 60fps on PC though. However, FromSoftware plans to add support for Ray Tracing via a post-launch patch. Elden Ring will release on February 25th.

Check this out. I don't really like love "speedruns", but sometimes it's fun watching others complete a game within such a short period of time.

But anyways, IGN has shared a video, showcasing speedrunner 'Sasquatch' completing the campaign mode of Halo Infinite in 29 minutes in Legendary Difficulty. Also, and in the following video, Halo Infinite developers Mika Little (Gameplay Designer), Brian Traugott (Lead Level Designer), and Caleb Doughty (Game Designer) react to it.

In order to complete the game in such a short time, the speedrunner used various tricks, exploits and glitches. To be honest, I never understood the point of these speedruns though. Playing and beating any game hurriedly sounds kind of weird though, imo. But of course, there is a different reason behind these speedruns....

Yeah I can't even watch the Any% speedruns that exploit glitches. I prefer speedruns on hardest mode that don't use any glitches. 7rayD has one that's done in a little over 2 hours, and it's WAY better to watch IMO.

BTW, I'm making good progress on the final 3 missions of my Halo Infinite walkthrough, having completed 2 of them so far. The 1st one is already compressed, but I got an incompat audio error attempting to compress the last one. I'm hoping I can fix it by just setting the audio output to Copy instead of PCM. If not, it could take replaying segments of the House of Reckoning mission.

[edited]
Well I dodged the bullet, setting audio output to Copy made it render successfully. Now I only have one mission left, but it has 2 very hard parts in it.

Okay, we have some new gameplay trailers released for Shadow Warrior 3 & ELEX II PC titles, which are both releasing on MARCH 1'st 2022.

First off, THQ Nordic has released a brand new trailer for ELEX II that explains its story and its gameplay mechanics. Moreover, PlayStation released a gameplay trailer for Shadow Warrior 3, featuring the Dragon’s Nest mission from it. The trailer for ELEX II shows a lot of gameplay footage, but it also explains numerous gameplay features.

ELEX 2 looks promising, but NOT Shadow Warrior3/SW3 by any means.

SW3 looks like a horrible gore fest, with a cartoonish/colorful touch to it. And it is insanely fast-paced which makes it even worse than some of the Serious SAM titles. Seriously, I'm not sure why game developers think going for a fast-paced mechanics makes a very good and interesting FPS. On the contrary, it makes it look worse, and any good FPS game should have some interesting and thoughtful gameplay, a storyline, along with some decent gameplay mechanics.

Just throwing the player in front of dozens and dozens of mindless hordes of enemies, doesn't make a good and addictive shooter, at least IMO. Also, in SW3 I really don't like cheap jokes which WANG keeps on saying. I never found any of those lines funny. The first Shadow Warrior (1997) game still remains a classic, and one of the best FPS of all time.

Just my 2 cents, as others might disagree with my thoughts. Anyways, watch both the videos if you are interested. 🤘

Wanna replay the classic DOOM 2 game ? Well, John Romero has released a new map/level for the 1994 id Software release Doom 2, called One Humanity. One Humanity is Romero’s first DOOM II level since the release of the original in 1994.

Romero has created this map in order to support the people of Ukraine and the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund. As he claimed, 100% of the proceeds will go toward this support. The .WAD contains a readme text file as well as the external mod data. You must have an original copy of DOOM II and a modern source port to play One Humanity.

You can purchase One Humanity from here. Happy fragging !

Okay. Some news if you are a die-hard fan of the BATMAN series. I have never played any batman game before though.

But anyways, warner Bros has just announced that Gotham Knights will release on October 25th, 2022. Still a long way to go.

Gotham Knights will be a new third-person action adventure game, featuring the Batman Family. Players will step into the roles of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin. The game promises to offer an original story, as well as a dynamic and interactive Gotham City where an exploding criminal element has swept through the streets.

In Gotham Knights, players must solve mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history. Moreover, they’ll have to defeat notorious Super-Villains as this new era of Super Heroes reinvent themselves into their own version of the Dark Knight. You can watch an old video trailer below.

Yeah I've had my eye on this one for some time, and posted a trailer of it some time ago. I've been a bit skeptical whether it will have stealth and gadgetry on par with the Batman games, but recent footage I've seen gives me hope.

(Skip to 4:43 for gameplay footage)

I guess a Gotham based game with Batgirl instead of Batman is to be expected, with B-Man having been done to death, and the female empowerment movement in full swing. It might even be a nice change of pace if pulled off well.

Even Rocksteady are following suit with a Jokerless Suicide Squad game featuring none other than Harley Quinn.

As for what we were discussing about Dying Light 2 earlier, despite the ton of complaints about the graphics, bland characters, dialog, quests, and bugs, it's rated Very Positive on Steam, with tons of reviews. I've also seen a few people on forums I chat on say it's a great game. So it appears despite all it's flaws, the gameplay more than makes up for it.
