Well, if you guys are old-school first-person shooter veterans, hardcore FPS fans, then you might be aware of John Romero. He is best known as a co-founder of id Software and designer for many of their games, including Wolfenstein 3D, Dangerous Dave, Hexen, Doom, Doom II and Quake.

Anyways, it appears that John is working on a brand new FPS that will be using Epic’s Unreal Engine 5. He tweeted about this move. Although Romero did not reveal much, we do know that this will be an original new IP.

Romero Games is currently hiring developers for this project, which means that it’s in a pre-production phase.

View: https://twitter.com/romero/status/1549382761303212033

"Romero Games is exclusively focused on developing FPS games. Our team brings decades of experience to the table with significant leadership roles on games like DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein 3D, SIGIL, Far Cry, Watchdogs, Forza, Sniper Elite VR, The Division 1 & 2, Crysis and many others.

We’ve been fortunate to craft genres and create great games, and we have learned powerful lessons from those that didn’t hit the mark, all of which makes us better developers. Our team has shipped over 200 titles individually and won as many awards, including multiple game-of-the-year awards and even a BAFTA Special Award. We are exceptionally passionate about games."

Focus Home Interactive has released a brand new trailer for "A Plague Tale: Requiem", showcasing its gameplay mechanics. In this sequel, Amicia will have some new resources, including the use of alchemy to manipulate fire and the long-distance power of a crossbow.

Players will be able to choose to strike from the shadow or to unleash hell, with the help of Hugo’s new powers: to perceive surrounding enemies’ movements while moving stealthily, and to manipulate hordes of rats to decimate entire squads of soldiers.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is the direct sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence. The game follows Amicia and her brother Hugo on a perilous new quest, doing whatever it takes to survive a brutal, uncaring world.

A Plague Tale: Requiem will release on October 18th. Moreover, the PC version will support both NVIDIA’s DLSS and Ray Tracing effects.

Wow, their first A Plague Tale game Innocence was good, but this looks epic. Can't wait to play this game. I couldn't help but notice the gal narrating it sounded a lot like the one with a British accent that does Hitman.

Yeah, this second title in the series looks quite promising. I haven't even played the first game/A Plague Tale: Innocence, since it involved too much stealth at least for my taste, but this one looks cool.

Gameplay is largely similar to the first game, though the combat system seems to be significantly expanded. Amicia is equipped with weapons such as a knife to stab enemies, a sling that can be used to throw rocks, and a crossbow which allows her to easily defeat armoured opponents. Crossbow bolts, throwing pots, and rocks can be combined with alchemical mixtures.

And that's what I really need, a Crossbow of some sort.

In addition to Ignifer and Extinguis, which allows the player to light and extinguish flame respectively, the game introduces tar, which increases the radius of the light source, and can be used to ignite enemies (taken from WIKI).

The main differences are the crossbow, knife a weapon that can stun enemies when thrown or slung, and Hugo's mass of rats summons. The rest is all in the first game too. On the crossbow, I'm not sure but it might require a few precise shots to remove armor like the Sling did before an enemy is vulnerable to a kill shot. I say this because the video shows Amicia shooting the armor off a guard. Also, it's hard to say but I was wondering if the thrown version of the stun weapon can stun more than one enemy, as the first 12 min gameplay video showed it producing what looked to be a larger cloud of the stunning agent. I just hope since there are more weapons now that they don't skimp on the puzzles to get by rats and enemies, which was a great part of the first game.

Actually, you have a point. I noticed that in the video. The exact purpose of the crossbow might be similar to Sling, though it would be nice if it can easily kill off some of the enemies, if not all. I wish they also include some POISON or a Sleeping dart crossbow bolt types as well.

In some of the Assassin's creed games, I have noticed the player using sleeping darts/bolts to avoid being detected and move stealthily. But I'm not sure whether this type of combat will be included in 'A Plague Tale: Requiem' though. But the rest of the gameplay will be similar to 'A Plague Tale Innocence' like you have mentioned.

Even puzzle solving must be there.

Yeah from my experience in the first game, despite there not being a selection of difficulty modes, they at least keep the player honest in not having a lot of shots ready to fire. At most you could upgrade the Sling to fire two consecutive shots, but you of course have to wind it up. I'm sure the cross bow might as well need to be loaded and cocked for each bolt. I'm not expecting a fantasy Van Helsing type crossbow where you can rapid fire shots.

That said, I would prefer the stealth be a bit more challenging in the next one. It was a bit too easy to sneak past enemies in Innocence, even quickly.

BTW, a new gameplay trailer has just been showcased at GAMESCOM 2022 for 'The Callisto Protocol'.

In fact a lot of gameplay/annoucement trailers have been shown including Lords of the Fallen 2, Dead Island 2, Sonic Frontiers, Hogwarts Legacy, Warhammer Darktide, and many more. But I'm just sharing few of them here.

I think the player/hero dies in this Callisto Protocol gameplay trailer in the end. Game looks promising, just like Dead Space. I think even better than previous Dead Space titles.

Yeah I saw all those skimming through the Gamescom stream. I was hoping they'd show something a bit more visceral regarding The Calisto Protocol, but maybe it was just that it was taken from alpha stage. They keep showing incredible player death animations though, so I'm expecting it will have a lot of attention to detail.

First online game I ever had a chance to play was UO, at my cousin's house in the land of early broadband in California.

About the only memorable thing I did was take a blank book and write a story about how I had been transformed into a horse. I left it next to one of the static horses in the starter town and waited for people to come by and read it. The reactions were pretty good.

Was only there for a couple of days, so didn't get to see much of the game or delve much into combat aside from getting murdered.

It looks like Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection will arrive on PC in October, leak suggests.

Sony have been regularly releasing games on PC for a while now, with an often quick turnaround between 'announcement' and 'it's out now'. The exception is the Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection, which was confirmed for PC back in September 2021 but which still hasn't arrived.

It seems like that will change soon. A recent, hastily-removed update to the collection's Epic Games Store page declared that it would release on October 19th. The revision to the store page wasn't up for long, but was captured by Twitter user Wario64.

"The Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection, remastered and optimized for PC, hits Epic Games Store on Oct. 19th, and if you pre-purchase it, you'll get a snazzy new Fortnite glider in the shape of Sully's seaplane," says the text on the image.

The Legacy Of Thieves collection includes both Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The former is the end of the Nathan Drake story, and the latter is the first Uncharted game not to feature Drake as the protagonist. It remains odd to me that these games are coming to PC but that the first three Uncharted games are not. Should I really play the thief's end before I've played his beginning?

These aren't the only Naughty Dog games heading to PC. The Last Of Us: Part 1 remaster arrived on PlayStation 5 earlier this month, and Sony have said it will come to PC sometime soon, too.

I didn't know they made one without Nathan as lead. So they turning it into tomb raider even more having a female lead. I wonder how well it sold in comparison to previous ones.

I have played a few on Play station 3 but sort of lost track when I swapped to PC. I recognise covers of 2 & 3. I haven't played the last 2.

I don't think you really need to play first 3 to play games, it would maybe explain support characters a little more but games are pretty stand alone.

It remains odd to me that these games are coming to PC but that the first three Uncharted games are not.
probably a coding issue, they all PS3 games and that console was "special" to code for. expect if they sell enough of the Legacy of thieves collection, they might make another.
They would have to remake all 3 for PC.

When I read Uncharted games were coming to PC, I was excited but also a bit upset when I looked into it that they're not bringing over the entire series. After further checking though it seems they are at least bringing over the most popular titles. I still can't help but think it would have been cool to see the original games remade for modern gaming hardware.

A big part of the reason I'd like to play the whole series is because Naughty Dog are pretty good story writers, and I always hate to feel like I'm missing parts of a good author's work.

Oh BTW, if anyone of you are die-hard fans of old school-style FPS games, just like me, then check this out. Metal: Hellsinger ! The game is finally out now. It's fast paced though, but it's a hellish gun fest for sure.

Metal: Hellsinger on Steam (steampowered.com)

Includes Original METAL soundtracks as well. :D 🤘

Every track is created specifically for the game with vocals by metal icons, such as Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity), Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) and Tatiana Shmailyuk (Jinjer).

LOL, sounds right up your alley Metal.

Honestly though, I'm wishing there would be more games devoted to full length sp tactical campaigns. Most shooters these days either cater to an arcade formula, or tactical ones that are usually made for mp or coop, with micro sized campaigns.

Actually, that METAL Hellsinger game looks boring, and this is not like other FPS games which came before. The campaign also seems to be very short, and the price tag doesn't justify it. I have watched few videos, before making any purchase, but I'm still reluctant to buy this indie FPS game.

I mean, the game is not THAT bad/awful, but in the first 2 levels the player only has access to a melee weapon, and this was supposed to be a pure FPS game. Nonetheless, there are weapons in later stages of the game, but the gameplay looks boring. The game is also buggy.

DOOM 2016, and DOOM Eternal were both good. And so was TITANFALL 2. I also wish they release more FPS titles with a SP campaign, and not just a small DLC sized standalone product.

Have you played 'Ghostwire: Tokyo' though ?

Yeah, I agree, the new Doom formula is good. Some say it's become too arcade with the monkeybars, jump pads, and portals, as well as the many things you can do with the meathook, but you really don't need to play it with the kind of frenetic aerial combat many use when employing such features, and I lack the dexterity and reflexes for it anyway. That's what motivated me to do a full walkthrough on how to beat it without such tactics.

I liked Titanfall 2's sp campaign as well, and it was surprisingly pretty good length for a game that started out as mp only. I used to struggle with some parts of it on the hardest mode, especially the fight against Viper on the plane, but once I used Tone, paced myself, and used cover behind the shield, the last time I played it that part went a lot easier. I also got a lot better at the final boss fight, though it takes a lot longer.

Those are definitely games you can play tactically though. I've not played Ghostwire Tokyo, nor am I interested in it. As I've said before I don't like it's animations or the weird Dr Strange style mage attacks. I've never been a fan of magic used as combat in games, which is why I never played as a mage in Skyrim. Ghostwire Tokyo also looks far too arcade for my liking, which IMO, also lessens the feel of horror.

Okay. It looks like "Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales" is also coming to the PC. You might be interested in this game though, @ Frag, since you have already played the new remastered copy of Spider Man.

Anyway, SONY has shared a new PC teaser trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales (embedded below), and also revealed its official PC system requirements. The game will be coming to PC in Fall 2022, and Nixxes will once again handle its PC version.

Since Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is currently only available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, the port will give us Windows users the change to experience the glittering adventure for themselves. The teaser trailer shows Miles Morales in his sleek and shiny spider-suit, slinging webs and stomping bad guys to protect New York City.

This game features a lot of similar gameplay and locales as Insomniac Games’ 2018 hit Marvel’s Spider-Man. But it still delivers an original story starring Miles Morales in the hero’s role. In this 2020 adaptation, Peter Parker is out of town, so it’s up to Morales to keep the peace in New York.

The Youtube description for the teaser trailer states:

"Following the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, teenager Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. But when a fierce power struggle threatens to destroy his new home, the aspiring hero realizes that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. To save all of Marvel’s New York, Miles must take up the mantle of Spider-Man and own it. Coming to PC Fall 2022'.'

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
may not have a launch date, but players can wishlist it on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

It's strange that the Miles Morales game is a sequel, because in Spider-Man Remastered, Miles' dad dies. In the animated film his dad is alive, so maybe it should have been a prequel as a game. However that makes no sense either, because I'm pretty sure Miles doesn't get his Spidey skills until very late in the Spider-Man Remastered game. I'm like 89% through it and I haven't even gotten to that part.

They really need to put more thought into how they tie the installments together story wise.

It appears that Focus Entertainment has released the official story trailer for "A Plague Tale: Requiem". This trailer features in-engine footage, showcasing what Asobo has achieved with its in-house engine. Game looks interesting.

Even though I haven't played the previous title in this Plague series, but this one has got my attention. Even the voice acting is pretty good. The game is getting released on October 18th, 2022.

lol, getting murdered is normal if you're new to a certain game. hehe

as for the thread, my favorite genre is still fighting games. Eagerly awaiting the new Tekken.

also playing the really old game Eternal Fighter Zero. It has a discord with plenty of people, and I'm active there.
