[SOLVED] WHEA Log Event Id 18

I have been getting this problem where my PC freezes and I hear sound loop for 3 seconds before it restarts, I have been trying to fix it for months now, here is what I have tried so far.

• Replaced PSU from bronze to Gold
• Replaced processor

I even tried MSI Afterburner to check temps, no overheating everything stays below 60c, nothing overclocked, usually happens while gaming.

• Saphire nitro plus AMD RX 6600 XT 8GB
• 16 gigs ram (8gb Hyperx + 8gb XPG)
• ASUS ROG Strix 850W Gold PSU
• Samsung NVME 980 SSD 500GB + Kingston A400 250GB SSD
• AMD Ryzen 5600x
• Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1, build 19043.2006, 64BIT
• MSI A320M-A pro max motherboard

voltages on your CPU arent sufficient, is CPU overclocked or are you using PBO or curve optimiser?
if none above, try disabling XMP overclock profile

your specifications is missing mainboard and bios version

Hi thanks for replying, no CPU is not overclocked also not using PBO or curve optimizer, but yes I do have XMP profile turned on, now that I think about it, it probably started happening after that.

I also forgot to mention by MOBO, do you think I should upgrade that as well, I think it might be a bit weak.

I have msi a320m-a pro max which is pretty entry level I think.

its unknown if mainboard replacement would fix that, each mainboard clock/sets voltages a bit differently, could be faulty CPU aswell (if it needs more voltage at its rated boost clock), could be mainboard missreporting voltages

bios is up to date?

well anyway your CPU is receiving low voltage during gaming (when few CPU cores boosts to high clock)
if your mainboard has LLC settings, try to increase LLC level, you could also increase CPU core offset voltage

other that that, run single core stress test (prime95) on each core (set affinity to core 0, then core2 etc) at a time to find out which one get unstable under boost, then either in bios or in ryzen master correct voltage for that core in curve optimiser settings

on a sidenote, since youve already replaced cpu, then mainboard replacement would solve it

Got it, thanks for helping so far it has not crashed or froze since I turned the xmp profile off, will consider upgrading mobo in future.
