If you search the forums there are an amazing number of posts on this in the last few months. I'm all for ms$ screwed with something and caused it myself. Mine started a couple of months ago, then it would not start from a reset had to take it all the way down all the time or it would hang on a reset. About two days ago windows wanted to load updates so I let it restart and during the reset I got the infamous IRQ NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL which if you're an old fart like me you know that is generally an interrupt conflict i.e a hardware malfunction. After that I got the good old lights are on but nobody home situation, lights on fans spinning but no post code pass beep or monitor output it was dead Jim. The IRQ error can point at a power issue just as the whea uncorrectable error can point to a power issue. I have a very nice antec highcurrent gamer 900w power supply in my system but it's also nearly five years old. As much as I didn't want to I found a half decent corsair 750 on the shelf at best buy and swapped it in for a test. Machine fired right up first try (in fairness while the case was open I cleaned all the contacts and reseated the ram and changed out the cmos battery and blew the dust out of everything). It's been running a whole day no issues. I've contacted Antec about an RMA since it's still in warranty. Those ten dollar power supply testers don't tell you anything beyond it powers up that's no guarantee it's not failing under load. Of course I have also seen a couple of forum posts the person said they changed out the cmos battery and the problem went away. Who knows maybe just pulling it all out fixed it (corrosion can creep up on you especially in Florida) but since it's a PITA to change out the power supply I won't tackle putting it back until I'm sure it's not having a problem or the problem hasn't recurred for a while. By the way if you've never bought an Antec power supply I've used them over many a build and a lot of years and had great luck with them. I guess Corsaire is the new baby I had coupons at best buy and got a cx750M for fifty bucks, it's only single rail but I'm not running sli or crossfire right now anyway so not really a biggie.
