Now of course, I'm not shelling 1 grand on a monitor. But, I'm wondering. When will 4k become as cheap as 1080p for the same size. (BTW, I saw a Seiki monitor on Amazon for $339) P.S.-2k is dead.

Solution
I doubt it ever will. By the time it becomes "standard" there will be new technology in place.
Its like 720p vs 1080p vs 1440p right now.
4K will continue to close the gap in price with 2K monitors.

As for WHEN they will be similarly priced that will never happen at the same overall quality level. 4K might drop down to the point it's about 20% more expensive though in several years (again must compare apples to apples in quality).

*P.S. 2K is not "dead"; that implies that almost no 2K monitors/HDTV's are being sold which is far from reality. It's also worth noting that 4K for HDTV's doesn't even benefit people unless they sit close enough.

You might as well say LCD/LED TV's are "dead" because we have a few OLED TV's around.
