Question When I activate FreeSync on my FreeSync compatible monitor with AMD GPU, the Screen Flickers. Help!

I have no issues when I don't use FreeSync but the moment I activate FreeSync on my monitor, it constantly gives black screens for 2-5 seconds then goes back to color. What is this? I have no overheating issues or anything of that matter and I checked for corrupted files and optimizations to the system but there are still issues with it. Here are my system specifications:

AMD Ryzen 7 1700 with stock cooler
MSI Armor OC RX570 8GB card
Gigabyte DS3H-B450
16GB ADATA XPG 2400 mHz DDR4 RAM
Crucial MX500
7200 RPM WD Blue HDD
4x120mm fans
Silverstone CPF04 Fan Hub/Extension
Thermaltake H15 case

What cable are you using HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI-D?

HDMI 2.0 cable. More specifically, the Syncwire ‎SW-HD032

What is the Monitor? FreeSync monitors normally come with their own cables. Use the Display Port cables that came with the monitor and it should solve the issue.

the monitor is the Acer ‎SB230 Bbix. I did not receive an HDMI cable with my monitor but only got a VGA cable which is definitely not compatible with Freesync

When I enable freesync setting on my Radeon settings, it flickers even though freesync is not activated with the monitor. I think it has something to do with the GPU setting being buggy rather than the monitor itself.

Leave the FreeSync "enabled" on the monitor. Then activate FreeSync within the Radeon Software. Make sure you are running the latest version of Radeon (currently 21.12.1)

If you have the latest version, go to the Radeon System menu and perform a factory reset. Reboot.

And that is your answer right here. VGA does not support Freesync. You need to buy a HDMI cable to connect GPU to monitor.

Do I need an HDMI 2.0 or HDMI 2.1 cable for this monitor to work on Freesync because I am currently using an HDMI 2.0 monitor cable.

You can try a HDMI 2.1 cable, that is probably the cheapest "option".
