Hi there.

So I've been facing this issue as of late where sometimes if I start up a program...say, VLC, the audio may work. But sometimes upon closing it and then re-opening it again sometime later it won't work. (This is only with software I'm using from my desktop. My internet browsers audio doesn't ever cut out.)

When I open Windows Media Player, sometimes it'll state "Server execution failed."
When I go to the command prompt and register jscript.dll & vbscript.dll that only fixes the no audio issue temporarily.

Also, just to mention, say if I open up a piece of software I use to produce music on, it won't detect my keyboard controller automatically like it used to. I have to go in and manually select it each time. Maybe that is related to something but possibly not?

Hope I can get this issue sorted. Thanks. By the way, I have uninstalled and re-installed Nvidia drivers, but not the Intel ones.

P.S. Whenever there's no audio on VLC I can tell because the volume sliding is always set to zero instead of it's default 100%

Make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your motherboard. Then make sure you're on the latest drivers for your audio device. How are you connected to the desktop using your audio equipment? You might also want to share a screenshot of your audio devices window.

Every driver is up to date as far as I'm aware. How do I go about updating the PC's bios? As far as my set-up goes I've mainly just got usb extension adapters going into 3.0/2.0 ports at the back of my PC. One being the keyboard controller, in audio recording Focusrite is my sound card for jacking in guitars etc...then I've just got the regular display monitor hooked up to my nvidia card.

Here's a list of the audio devices in both playback & recording.

Thank-you for your response man. Unfortunately, your suggestions didn't work.

The one thing that bugs me is I can't find absolutely nothing about this issue on Google whatsoever. It's the most frustrating thing ever. I've tried everything at this point.

It even seems to do it when I clean boot my PC. Which makes me think it's a hardware issue at this point...I've had this rig since 2015. I've kept it in good hands but I guess it's normal to start seeing issues around this time.

Any other suggestions from anybody would be greatly appreciated.
