When I brought my pc the cpu was clocked at 4.2ghz

So basically when I brought my pc my cpu (A8 7650k) was clocked at 4.2ghz It said it in the bios but now its gone back to base speeds

Mobo - MSI Grenade A68HM
CPU - AMD A8 7650k

I've researched and the mobo isn't even able to overclock?
Soo confused?
