But I still have to download the drivers right?

yes. the drivers will be needed to use the card properly. the drivers are the instruction manual for the PC, what it does, how it works, how much power, etc. without updated drivers the default VGA driver will be used, it will work but performance will be hobbled until the drivers are updated.
