When I open afterburner fan speeds up for a sec

Guys,

Almost everytime I open MSI afterburner, after a sec a fan (I suppose GPU?) will ramp up really quick to then go back to normal.

Has anyone experienced something like this? I have a custom fan profile set up, if that changes anything.

1060 6gb, i7 7700.

Thanks!

When you say you open MSI afterburner, do you mean you open it after it has already been open in taskbar or do you open it after windows starts up manually?

The 2nd one. After windows boots up, when I open it to also launch riva tuner (to monitor resources in game) that happens

Change the program to start with windows and have it start minimized, after windows has booted up, ensure MSI Afterburner is open in the taskbar then open the program, if the fans still speed up then check the fan speed graph (Fan tachometer graph) on MSI Afterburner to see if there are any spikes in the fan speed. If there is not then it is likely the CPU fan spinning up as it is detecting load.

Hope that makes sense.

Good Luck! :)

I realized that the Startup checkbox wasnt selected. So I guess every time I opened afterburner, it applied the custom fan curve and went a little crazy for a sec.

I did not realized this until now because I dont have any overclock on the GPU.

I set it to apply on start up, and also set afterburner to start at startup minimized.

I hope this fix the issue
