not sure where the security tab is as it's not with the networking tab as mentioned in all other instructions for Vista. Trying to hook up my printer from my new laptop but can't find network security key.

Hey buddy, i see this is a tad old, you may have got it by now, is this a wifi printer you are setting up? If so, the network security key is your wifi password. If this is in a corporate office, you will have to get with admin.

You're stuck because you won't find the wireless security key under the Security tab anyway, that's for configuring Windows folder permissions only.

You'll find the wireless security key in your wireless router's web-based configuration utility, or if it's still set at the factory default (ie you haven't changed it) it may be printed on a label at the back of your router or underneath it.

The only place you can find your WiFi security key is in the router' WiFi configuration. Even if you entered that key in your Windows computer at some point and are connected, there is no (easy) way to retrieve this information in usable way.
