Hello,
I recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8. After completing the installation process whenever I tried to open an application I was greeted with this message: "there is no disk in the drive please insert a disk into drive." I have tried restarting and all the other basic things that usually seem to solve things like this but nothing has worked so far. I would appreciate if anyone has any information regarding a solution to this problem that they would be willing to share with me.

Thanks,
Harvey

Solution
thats different... does it mention a certain drive name?

try this
right click start button
choose command prompt (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once that is complete, copy/paste this into same window:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC cleans & fixes system files, DISM cleans the files SFC uses to compare so if SFC failed 1st time, re run it after dism

run any antivirus or do they do the same?

what type of PC do you have?

Solution
if you can't even open start menu... from the start up screen, where you click a key to bring up the login box, click the power icon
before clicking anything else, hold the shift key down and clisk restart
this loads advanced start up

choose troubleshoot
choose advanced
choose start up options
hit the restart button
choose a safe mode (it doesn't matter which) by using number associated with it.
PC will restart and load safe mode

see if same things happen here.

Also, right click start, choose command prompt (admin) and try to enter commands above

Thanks, this worked! Everything is all good now. :)
