When is an i5 the better option over the i7 if money isn't an issue

I was looking at Ark.Intel.com, and even when comparing the latest i5 to an earlier generation i7, the i7 has it beat.


In which instances is it better to have an i5 over an i7 ?
just throwing it out there for discussion.

Games only use 4 threads, some use more but we're not there yet. The i7 is typically recommended when you're doing things outside of gaming, heavy multitasking/rendering/streaming, etc.
