Hello! I have recently begun to build a computer for the first time and, now that everything has been put together, the monitor does not detect the machine when it is plugged in. It appears to turn on (all the lights and fans work), for what that's worth.
The specs are:
CM StormStryker case
GA-Z97X-UD5H motherboard
Intel i7-4790K processor
Hitachi 0F12470 Ultrastar A7K3000 2TB hard-drive
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Overclocked 4GB GDDR5 PCiE GPU
Noctua NH-U12S processor cooling fan
EVGA Supernova 750 W PSU
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8 GB kit 4x2
The monitor is an HP W2072a. I considered getting a better one when I bought the components but decided I could just hook it up to my HD TV. However, I read it's better to set it up with an actual monitor after I tried an HDMI cable to connect it to the TV and that didn't work either.
I also read that a beep may or may not happen depending on the motherboard, but I've never heard anything of the sort. The power button and aesthetic linings on the mobo do light up though, so it's definitely receiving power.
Here's some pictures:
