Question When my VG248QE is not in use, why does it flash 'display port no signal'??

I have two monitors, one of them being a VG248QE. When I watch movies, I like to use 'second screen only', thus leaving my primary monitor(the VG248QE) off. But it doesn't stay off. It will flash "Display port NO SIGNAL" repeatedly, though inconsistently. I have an MSI 1660 ti; driver is up to date. I tried pulling the power cord then plugging back in, but it did not work. All connection seem tight. Help!

I should be more specific; I have windows 10. To switch monitors, I use windows key + P, and select 'second screen only'. This is when I experience the issue.

My guess is with the monitor still powered on, it senses it doesn't have a signal while still being connected. Not sure why it wouldn't stay off when powered off though. My just have to manually power it down.
