We use raidcall but it happens on other programs too. Whenever my nephew hits his push to talk button to begin talking, the entire time he holds down the button there is a loud motor noise playing.

He has nothing on to be causing this, I have even recorded it and sent it to him and he has no idea whats making the noise. It literally sounds like a lawn mower running in the distance, but it isnt.

I think it might be the sound card, but I dont know. I got him a soundcard to replace his dieing onboard sound. The card I got was this

Could it be that the sound card is picking up interference from the graphics card? It is directly next to the graphics card, I have no way to test this due to the lack of PCIE ports on his motherboard.

It might be as simple as feedback.

With my Blue Yeti and my Sennheiser HD700's, due to the open design of the 700's the yeti picks up the sound from them and oftenly creates a sound that sounds like a REALLY wet fart.

None the less, an idea could be to briefly mute the mic every now and then, works for me and stops the lawn mowing fart machine :).

If it still persists then continue the thread.

He has some Turtle Beach kind. I dont know the specific model.
What I do know is this noise hasnt happened until sometime after adding the sound card.
