Hi!
I own an old Asus M50Vp, LCD screen, Windows 10 Enterprise, fully updated and with the screen original drivers - not Microsoft's, as they do not allow me to change brightness from Fn keys or the built in options.
I have been noticing for quite some time that when I close my laptop lid the screen and then open it again, there is more activity than just turning the LCD panel on. Windows 10 seems to re-organize (re-draw) windows, layouts, etc., this is not just a hardware thing - I mean Windows actively "does things" when the lid is down, even if I have selected the "do nothing" option in Power Saving. I can guess this happens to help reduce energy consumption. But this has caused me some issues a few times - eg when I had Excel open, closed and open the lid, and then Windows failed to re-draw windows correctly and I got an error. Is this a Windows 10 issue or is it something related to energy power saving when waking up the screen? I would like to get just my laptop LCD panel off when I close the lid, without Windows making its weird Windows-ish things. I know there are programs to turn off monitor, but they are not the thing I would like to use... Could this be driver issues, Windows 10 issues, or less likely the hardware? I have read about monitor deep sleep, but I really don't think this applies here...
Thanks!
