So a few weeks ago my computer started having this problem when I would play LoL. The screen turns black for about a second, then turns back on, and there is no error message saying it was a display driver error (I used to get those, but then new drivers solved that problem). Also, when viewing certain websites, like checking my mail in yahoo or viewing a .pdf in-browser, I get a strobe light effect in which the website started flashing between black and white. The top portion of the browser does not flash, ie. toolbar, just the website viewing area.
Attempted solution #1: Took off side panel, found out the PCIe slot's latch was not fully secured, it was unlocked. GPU was not fulled inserted into slot. Took it out, dusted it, dusted the computer except for the PSU. Put it back in, and the problem still remains.
Attempted solution #2: Uninstalled drivers with guru3d driver uninstaller, then installed newest drivers from amd.com. Problem still persists.
Rig:
AMD FX-8320
Gigabyte R9 270X 4gb
AMD Radeon 2x8gb RAM 1866 MHz
Corsair CX500m PSU
Corsair h100 cooler
Corsair 500R case
Windows 10 64 bit
Acer 28" 4k2k res monitor, B286HK
I read around. Maybe you guys can chew on these ideas. I heard it could be a problem with the PSU failing. The Corsair CX500m is a bad PSU according to the tier list. Also I didn't dust it out so maybe I should do that.
My friend suggested I roll back Windows Updates to a previous version, since this started happening a few weeks ago and there were some updates around that time. But how do I do this? I looked at a guide, and I'm viewing the updates list, but how do I know which ones to uninstall?
I could also RMA the GPU since it's still under warranty. But I'd rather not if there's a solution. I know my monitor is a somewhat cheap quality one, but I doubt it's the problem. Or else the screen wouldn't go black only during game play?
*UPDATE* I put in a different graphics card, a Geforce 970, and the problem still happens. So I am worried it's a different part of my computer.
