When reach Max DL speed - Internet cuts

Whenever I am downloading a large file and reach my allotted DL speed of 50mbps my internet cuts out within 10 min of maintaining speed DL speed and I have to power cycle my modem and router to get it back up.

I run a Powerline connection from a Wi-Fi router into the motherboard of my PC.

I've got a new router, updated the firmware and all that. Firmware on the modem is up to date too.

I've read elsewhere that other people's powerline adapters overheat sometimes, but my whole internet connection stops working. Not just the Ethernet connection.

Have you attempted to max your connection directly through the modem and bypass the router to eliminate that as suspect? The powerline adapter as well?
