When replacing CPU + Motherboard, do I need to re-install OS on my HDD?

I've never upgraded my motherboard / CPU before so not sure what to do!

Reinstalling Windows is recommended if not necessary as changing your CPU and motherboard is making essential changes to your PC.

Usually any major changes to your hardware like a motherboard requires a fresh install of Windows, cpu not so much. Though I have tried running the old windows on the new hardware and sometimes it runs and detects the new hardware. First backup your important files and try running the new hardware on your old windows and see if it works.
