I have been using a core 2duo processor, an unlocked engineering model t9800 in an MSI white book that I built when this was the hot processor for a notebook. It has been doing all of my computing and has pretty much hung in there except for high end gaming. It runs a big monitor most of the time and is pretty much on 24/7. I sort of wasn't ready to buy yet when the i7 first appeared and have been routinely underwhelmed by the incremental improvements since then. I have been bursting with the desire and money for my next build for a few years now, but have been disappointed time and again by the offerings of Intel and others. Should I just bite the bullet and buy a good enough cpu and concentrate on the gpu? I do so want to get back into current high end gaming, and also tend to run loads of apps simultaneously. Or is there something that is worth the wait. I am torn between waiting for the Intel offering next year again, but how many years do they expect me to wait?
